I didn’t realise that Lambert or Carvalhal had ever managed Southampton.

Difficult to assess and compare, but Hughes has Southampton in exactly the same league position as when he took them over, 17th, and they are now 2 points better off than the team in 18th. When Hughes took over Southampton were 1 point ahead of the team in 18th. Even if they do stay up, I'm not convinced they'll extend his contract.

They were utter crap I thought and deservedly went down. There is very little between the bottom 7/8 clubs.
