You’d have (wrongly) thought so, but you want a better society without contributing more than anyone else, whilst advocating that everybody in society be treated the same.far from it mate, I thought that was your lot
Sorry AHT but I have to correct you a little there. there are many asylum seekers who may have been served with illegal entry papers and therefore be defacto "illegals" who have then claimed aslum. So just because they have claimed doesnt alter their "status"Huh? People waiting for asylum are processed and put in centres awaiting their verdicts.
It’d be pretty straight forward to give them a temporary NINO and allow them to work whilst their claims were heard. They would then pay tax and NI conts on their earnings.
The only people here illegally are ones that aren’t claiming asylum and have slipped our immigration net. They will never get a NINO nor get any free treatment on the NHS nor any form of welfare benefit in the U.K..
That’s a failing of our system then and should be stopped. Maybe if we processed the claims quickly, the problem would dissipate quite quickly.Sorry AHT but I have to correct you a little there. there are many asylum seekers who may have been served with illegal entry papers and therefore be defacto "illegals" who have then claimed aslum. As for "free treatment on NHS", nobody will be turned away from our A&Es or wards if genuinely sick.....praise be that we arent (yet) or havnet gone down that US paid medical care route (yet!) So even illegals can benefit. There is also the simple fact of beign able to get a nice fake ID to allow anyone to work. The cash economy is still rife out there.
He's getting to benefit from a semi-functioning society, which certainly wouldn't be the case if your suggestion came to fruition. You'd either tip millions of additional people into poverty or decimate public services on a scale that would give George Osbourne a wet dream.ok then just for you, someone on £75k will pay about £5k more than someone on £50k when if it was just on the 20% they would only pay £2500 more. So what is the guy who pays that £2500 more getting for his money over the guy on £50k.
Not necessarily. Immediate emergency care is free to all, It would only be if admited to a ward for continued care that they "may" then be identified as a foreign national and details sought in order to try and obtain payment.....but then how do you go about getting theat if they may be living under a false identity or move from house to house etc? That’s a failing of our system then and should be stopped. Don‘t foreign nationals have to pay to use our NHS?
It worked far better until the system was stymied for political culture war purposes. Not necessarily. But yes, many failings in the system. certainly claims could and should be dealt with more quickly, but then how do you quantify that? How long do you allow someone to submit documents? What do you accept? Do you accept copies? How can you confirm anything if they have arrived without any identity documents? How many rights of appeal do you allow? How many claims do you allow? Can you re-initiate a claim if you have previously been dealt with or dealt with in another country?
It is just one huge mess that is the gift that keeps on giving to the likes of the Daily Mail, that like the whole Israel/Palestine thing just polarises opinion.
You got the wrong c word, had you said capitalism I would have agreed with youYou’d have (wrongly) thought so, but you want a better society without contributing more than anyone else, whilst advocating that everybody in society be treated the same.
It does have a certain whiff of the C word about it.
Pure Capitalism wouldn’t have any taxation though. What you are suggesting is the other end of the spectrum. You got the wrong c word, had you said capitalism I would have agreed with you
