John maken was painfully slow. Went to st Mary's a few year ago for a boring nil nil draw. Maken went for the ball and knocked the full back over and carried on running for the ball. The full back got up and still got to the ball before him. I groaned and went for a pie .

Not sure about that. He was like Leroy Sane when he ran down the wing to tell his mates we still needed a goal.

He was my hero for scoring twice in my first game. Twice v Palace in 1981. Couldn't understand why this footballing God wasn't playing for England.
