thats pretty much the nail in the coffin for this 'golden generation'. players like gerrard, lampard and even Beckham have been put on this England pedestal where they seem to be the face of england, the players who encapsulate english football and therefore are seem to be automatic selections. It must be pointless being a young player as they've been made to feel they cant get in the 1st 11 ahead of the likes of lampard

the best players today were Milner and Barry (despite his major lack of pace...but thats not why hes in the team) for me, with players coming through like Joe Hart, Huddlestone & Rodwell etc should be given more chances to build the team for the future, and we need a change of formation, and we need to start giving the young players of the next england time to get a feel for the shirt. No more taking the safe option in david James when the english goalkeeper of the year is on the bench. no playing beckham or SWP because AJ might be too young. we need to give these players a chance to step up and force the established players out of the squad.

spare wingers in Young, downing, walcott
spare midfielders Huddlestone, Rodwell, catermole

Id go with the formation we should have played from the start of this tournament (a 4-5-1 when defending switching to 4-2-4 on attack)

Dropping lampard, Heskey from the squad and giving space in the setup for developing young wingers and central midfielders. The main area for concern is the defence, as we seem short on young center backs.

but them again, Capello in a stubborn prick who managed to get himself on a swanky new contract right before the world cup started then decided to make the most abject changes and played his part in ending our world cup campaign, so you wouldnt expect anything other than carry on as normal!
