Seems there was something behind the claims after all. The Electoral Commission fined them £70k after expenses were signed off not in good faith by senior party figures. And it doesn't end there - files have gone to the Met and CPS to investigate alleged criminal acts that took place over expenses.

May could be getting that GE she never wanted at this rate if by-elections are forced as a result of previous votes being declared null and void. That quote about the party opposite being in disarray may yet come back to bite her on her rump

It looks like money well spent to me. What, realistically, other than the fine can be done?

1. files already passed to CPS to consider criminal proceedings.

2. election results are likely to be declared null and void, forcing new elections, And risking the Tories virtually losing their majority.

Bad luck? Since when has fraud been bad luck? Unless it's detection is the "bad luck"!
(Shades of "If it hadn't been for those pesky guys at the Electoral Commission, we'd have got away with it")

tongue in cheek bud - like the bad luck of breaking manifesto promises and having to U turn and so on.........glad to say its been an unlucky week for them.
