Shops that mainly sell branded goods are doomed unless they innovate. People want a specific Lego Star Wars Set for example will just google it, find the cheapest price and order it online. Toys R us was a dour shopping experience. Retailers must innovate or they die.

There will be plenty more ahead.

This is it in a nutshell. Their unique selling point today (USP) will not be their USP tomorrow. The same goes for online businesses, too.
Toys R Us might have succeeded, if they did something different, but they seemed to work by the old business model of stack them high, sell them low.
