This is it in a nutshell. Their unique selling point today (USP) will not be their USP tomorrow. The same goes for online businesses, too.Shops that mainly sell branded goods are doomed unless they innovate. People want a specific Lego Star Wars Set for example will just google it, find the cheapest price and order it online. Toys R us was a dour shopping experience. Retailers must innovate or they die.
There will be plenty more ahead.
Toys R Us might have succeeded, if they did something different, but they seemed to work by the old business model of stack them high, sell them low.
