Japan did not go down well that night! Sadly it was the only time I saw them: I like all their phases, musically; Quiet Life probably my favourite album of theirs.

BOC are high on my list of favourite bands - hugely underrated, IMO.

I made sure I saw Japan at least once on every tour after that .... Tin Drum still my favourite ... Mick Karn is a god amongst men ... As for BOC, they are one of my only three tats I have (their Cross Of Chaos logo) ... (By the way, can't recall if asked you before, but was you a Phoenix regular?)

Love it!!! What a night .... I have this one framed from their final Simple Man Cruise out of Tampa in 2014 .... One per passenger was left in our cabins on the last night .... signed by all the current band. And I also got Gary Rossington to sign my t shirt from their UK tour in either 75 or 76 can't recall which ....

Van Halen's self titled album still remains one of my favourite albums ever, and, imo, doesn't contain even an average track. I can still remember the first time I heard it, about 10 years after it's release, thinking WOW....

At 8 or 9, I'd be a bit too young for this gig, but I did get to see DLR at the same venue in 1994....good gig.

If I get a spare hour, I'll have to give youtube a go.

Cool. Not the gig I saw: that was on a Friday. On the Saturday, I went to the Apollo to see Jethro Tull.

Saw SGB as support more than once can only specifically recall The Who at Belle Vue Kings Hall.

Ditto SGB .... our music teacher got me and mate tix for that Who gig ... top bloke he was, on hearing we had got into Sweet, T.Rex, Bowie etc, he said 'Then have a listen to this lot' and gave us an armful of lp's by Zeppelin, Purple, Cream and Hendrix ....

Re the date of the Skynyrd gig, I vaguely recall the date was changed and a different one was stamped on the actual tickets?

Great stuff! That tee shirt is fantastic, mate. Never part with it. I binned all my tour tee shirts years ago, many signed. God knows why. I also had Strangers in the Night by UFO on vinyl, signed by all the band (including Schenker- long story) and got rid of that too when CD's came in. What a clown :( Still got all my gig tickets, though. I'll take some pics and upload them when I'm sober. Great 3 points today.

lots of 70's and 80's Van Halen live material is turning up at the moment.
