Probably not the place to post this but I was working away last week and thought I would try and get the city game online from a stream on myp2p.
I tried one link and it put a really damaging virus on my new laptop, it came straight through the Macafee I have on it.I was up till 2 in the morning until I managed to get rid of it. If this happened to anyone else get in touch and I can tell you how to get rid of it.
it puts a program on your computer that stops you getting online and throws up an advert for some anti virus software called AV Vira, you can access this web site which wants to get your card details to pay for a down load.
It then tells you that your browser is damaged and any anti virus software you have installed is corrupted and cannot run.
As I say if anyone else did this and is having trouble get in touch and I can tell them how I got rid of it.

Totally wrong place to post but I'll help you because I'm nice ;)

Boot your computer into "Safe-mode with Networking".
Download and run <a class="postlink" href="http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb896653</a>, kill any suspicious processes.
Download, update and run full scan with <a class="postlink" href="http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php</a>
Reboot and pray it's gone ;)

For the record, if you run a browser such as Firefox or Chrome, you can install an extension called "Web of Trust" which puts an icon on the top bar giving a rating for how trustworthy the websites you visit are - it works on a community basis so the websites are reviewed by members of the public (i.e. those that get scammed will report websites so that others don't have to) and it's remarkable just how much of the internet has already been covered by WoT. It should have those two websites you mentioned flagged as untrustworthy, and in future should give you advanced warning if the websites you are visiting are dodgy.

these are called false postives...they lock out your net and put a splash screen on your desktop saying you need to visit a certain site and download their software to remove it

as said above, either kill the running app in processes (ctrl Alt & Delete) or use software to kill the process

then download and run anti-malwarebytes

I would everyone suggest to install the free Comodo Firewall, it has an intergrated realtime Malware Protection. Covers mostly stuff and on the and ask you when do you want to give persmission for the Internet.
