Mrs DT has a Apple Mac laptop/notebook computer. We have a phone point downstairs with broadband but Mrs DT wants to use the computer upstairs where we have no phone point.

What is the best/easiest/cheapest way to enable Mrs DT to use the laptop and the broadband upstairs.

Cheers

DT

PS The title is for all you Numan fans out there who went to Saturday's concert.

you can simply buy a wireless router mate for around 45 quid from pc world

make sure it is pre-configured for wireless and has the wireless password on a label underneath the router...then you wont need to set it up.....simply plug it into the phone socket

then on the laptop...make sure the wireless is switched on and it should find the new router.....you will get a pop up box saying it has found available wireless networks...click on this box and it will open up another with a list of available names/wireless connections (dont worry you may have a few in there as you may pick up neighbours networks)...find your router and clcik connect...it will now ask you for the password...enter the password from the bottom of the router....click save/ok and away you go....now it will always connect whenever the router and laptop are on

Actually it's slightly different on a mac, you have to click the little bars in the top right (like a radar) and when your SSID pops up, click it, enter the WPA key or whatever, and Robert is your father's brother.

if you buy the router and usb wireless pack...you can use the router as normal...and on the downstairs pc, instead of running cables from the phone point...simply plug the usb wireless adaptor into your pc and set up as you have with the laptop...you can have an entire wireless pc network in the house then
