What would you have done?

Right, bit of a story for you all and a question at the end.

(written on my iPhone so apologies for poor structure, spelling , grammar etc)

One of my best mates brother who I'll call mark has moved down south after meeting a bird(anna) who used to visit his flat mate(john) at university up here. They're all loved up and living together now and john has since finished uni and moved back down. John lives with his mum, nice semi-d, middle class, well brought up etc. He's 23. Anna and mark have got a council flat together just up the road from him and often go round to use johns Internet. Over the past few months John has become increasingly dodgy about letting them onto his computer, which they starte to find pretty strange. Bearing in mind John and Mark are best friends, Mark and Anna go round to JOhns house to use his Internet but he ain't in, being good friends johns mum lets them in. Being nosey bastards they start going through his computer to see what's up. They find a folder full of child porn, thousands of pictures and videos, mark sent anna out the room and opened one up and watched 4 seconds before puking up and switching it off. To quote is brother, "you can't even begin to understand some shit I've been through and seen but those 4 seconds will never be go away from me and I can't in 1000 years think of anything worse."
He ends up ringing the police straight away and john gets nicked and is looking at 10-15 years.
Just wanted to share the story with you as I found it shocking.

What would you have done if you were mark?

He'd get fuck all like 10-15 years for a start. Try 1 to 2.

Don't know what I'd do. If he's a mate, probably try and get him some help but it would be hard not to smack him first up.

if he was my mate I wouldn't have went through his files first.

that case will be thrown out of court.. the police had no warrant and the bloke can just claim that john broke in and maybe put the files there himself..

I thought that but was informed by my mate get 10+ for some reason probably bullshit though to sound the Story sound worse though I don't know how that's possible. Not

There was a similar case of a retired teacher from my old school where he was found to have lots of images and videos of kids. I think he got a bit of community service and a two or three year suspended sentence.

Dates files were downloaded. Dates they have been watched. Loads of info Mark can use to say he wasn't there. If he can prove he, or Anna, weren't there on even one of the times and dates shown he would be cleared.

Not being funny but if I saw a video that was possibly child related porn I wouldn't click on it for fear of what I'd see. I'm way too soft to be seeing shit like that to be honest.

Tough call for your mate to make, it's easy for us all to say 'he was right to report him' but mates are mates and just glad I've never been in a similar position.

Unless he's been involved in abuse or the filming himself, in which case he might be looking at 10 tops.

Doesn't bear thinking about one of your mates doing something like that.
