Who and what’s to blame?

1. Arrogance
2. Complacency

We lost Vinny - no problem, Stones and Otamendi can rotate. We are that good.
We lost Sane - no problem, we have plenty of cover. We are that good.
We lost Laporte - no problem, Fern can drop into centre back for a whole season. We are that good.
Our back up right back wants to leave - no problem, we will spend £60m on another whilst ignoring more pressing concerns. We are that good.

We thought we were untouchable. On the one hand it is understandable that 198 points, a centurions season and a treble season will do that to you. It is less understandable when you know that we needed 98 points to win the title by a point over the European Champions and therefore there is next to no room for error.

We can point at VAR etc etc but the fact is, our end of season points tally this season wont even come close to a regular title-winning total. This team should be 90 points every season. If someone else gets 91+, you just have to hold your hands up and say fair enough. For this side, with Pep in charge to muster 80ish points is not even close to being good enough.

These players need to take a long hard look at themselves after this and decide whether or not they are up for the challenge because if this season has taught us anything...we aren't THAT good.

It’s still possible we could win the champions league, fa cup and league cup. Would you still say we aren’t That good???

we can’t win the league every year.

One interesting thought is how many points do we think will be required to win the league next season. The rags used to win it regularly with low 80's. Getting 90+ was very rare. 95 The record before we beat that the last 2 years and Liverpool on for similar. We could finish with 84. In old money we would be in with a chance with 84 again, one more win and 87 wins it most years. Or is 95+ the new normal where we need 10 more points next year.

I suspect it will be less next year. Less than 90. If we can keep Laporte and Stones healthy then we have a good chance.
Stones? Surely you're on the wind up.

No one.... we have no divine right to win anything, it comes down to hard work and planning, but there are 19 other teams doing the same thing, this Liverpool team(as the last 2 City title teams) will go down as some of the really best the league has produced, we still have the FA Cup and the Champions League and winning either(in addition to our League Cup win)will make this a successful season(the CL makes it very).

could just as well say that you are ignoring Liverpool winning the league, and accepting defeat. Fantastic as Liverpool have been, our points total would not normally be enough to win the league.

Liverpool deserved and we've no choice but to accept it, it's happened we can't win it every year ffs.

People get so down and want every tom dick and harry gone, it's Rodris fault it's FFS Mahrez and forget that this team have given us the best 2 years we've ever witnessed. We've won the League Cup we're ahead in the tie vs Madrid we're in the FA Cup qtrs lots to look forward to.

We've had a bad season and I'm sure Pep will learn from it.

1/ Vinny dropping the mic and leaving like he did, gave us no time to get a decent replacement, yet alone replace his "character"
2/ Playing David almost consistently this season, brain can still do it but body not so much. I think that we over relied on David this season hoping he could still wave the wand and magic would appear and it did, but not as much as we needed .
3/ Dinho is 35/36 a absolute fantastic player but we gotta find a replacement he is not going to go on forever, I think he is one of those players where the legs will just go, one day fine next day not fine hasn't helped he is out of position this season .
4/ Sergio 32 years old the absolute goal machine, we need to find the new Kun though we just do, we do the research and we spend big if that's what it takes, unfortunately machines wear out .
5/ Leroy and his season long goodbye, needed to be addressed quickly we didn't do that. As soon as he didn't want to sign should have got top dollar out of Bayern but we didnt, we had collected all these jewels and we didn't want to part with one even though he didn't wanna be in the jewel box anymore, but we just couldn't resist that one last chance to see him sparkle and !
6/ That Spurs game , that was the pivotal game this season we all saw how VAR could really be used in the prem league and how it could influence games. It also showed our team that whatever they did on the pitch it didn't matter because results could be influenced , so we had to score a lot to try and negate that influence and that also made us predictable.
Ah well let's hope we learn from this season !

Liverpool were just too good.

The players got into the limbo land of knowing they would be in top four but wouldn’t be winning the title and complacency set in.

Lack of leadership on the pitch.

The injury to Laporte.

The signings were poor.

It could still be a good season though if we win another trophy.

It would be a fantastic season and nobody thinks we should be winning it every year but the Prem is the bread and butter. However you look at it, we have fallen way short and questions have to be asked. How you perform in the league is a much greater barometer of where you are as a team. Teams fluke cups, the CL winner, is rarely the best team in Europe but being the best side in your domestic competition says everything and we are miles behind. Suggesting nothing is wrong is the complacency I was referring to.

Too right.

There really are some unrealistic folk on here. The aggressive tone and bile is unwarranted & unworthy.
