Windows Vista not genuine? Help!

I'm not right good with computers so just seeking some advice please.
I have a Toshiba Equium that was bought around 18 months ago from Dixons. It recently crashed and when I rebooted it a black screen came up displaying this message in the bottom right hand corner:

Windows Vista (TM)
Build 6001
This copy of windows is not genuine

Then another white screen appears with the following:

Activate windows now

Activate now to complete the windows activation process


(Box) - Activate now

(Box) = Activate later


I pressed the activate now and put in the pass key from the genuine windows sticker on the bottom of the laptop and its not recognising this as a genuine copy of vista?

The laptop was bought new with vista preinstalled so how can this be the case?

I cant seem to find a phone number on the web to contact microsoft and I dont really want to spend any money on buying vista again.

Anyone who can give me some advice I would really appreciate the help.

Run this: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062 (mgadiag.exe) and see if it shows your system as genuine.
If it does, I'd reccommend you submit a technical support request as described here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/servicerequest.aspx?displaylang=en

I had the same problem last week.

Go on system restore and restore it to a date before you installed it.

Restore it to yesterday or something.

Where there any pakistani's working at that dixons score? I'm not being racist, it's standard troubleshooting procedure to identify the race of the person who sold you the computer.
