xbox 360 (chipped)

Im not an expert but a friend on mine has a chipped xbox and you can play online.

Theres something about the disc or game being authenticated or something if its copied which can be done. Ill try find out more but wont speak to him until after the new year.

you can't play online with a chipped 360 , microsoft scans the 360 each time you go online , it will be able to tell you have chip inside you machine an you will be banned from xbox live ..

that is simple not true. I have played online on a chipped xbox, yes you have to buy the subscription still, but it can be done and ive seen it first hand on copied games.

Also you do know that you dont actually "chip" the xbox, you flash the dvd firmware....... There is no chip needed. At least on the older models.

Microsoft updated the boot menu a month ago which kinda stopped it, this however has been bypassed again.

I played online with my chipped xbox 360 before microsoft put a block on it. ive since heard the latest modifications get round this and allow you to play online again. dont know if this still applies but probably only a matter of time before microsoft catches up again.
