Xbox Live hacked ??

A hacker group known as Lizard Squad has apparently taken down the Xbox Live Service.

Strange times we live in. I cannot log in, neither can my nephew. Apparently they have been threatening this for a while.

Just checked Xbox Live status..... all core services affected. Bit scary that a few kids can cause this havock against a multi billion dollar corp.

Hopefully they will shut down Sky next ;-0

Hopefully fooking not, we have festive football.

Apparently, along with PS4. Anybody having problems at the minute?

Although the xbox live website says most things are up and running, including blinkbox there are reports online of Lizard Squad hacking in to the servers or whatever it is they do. Anyway, we can't watch the film I've just bought via my laptop through the xbox.

UPDATE 18:57: Xbox Live is still registered as having a limited service in the US and UK, with the official website conrinming users are having trouble signing in on the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

An Xbox Live Status message reads: "Having a tough time signing in? Don’t worry!

"We’re working to fix this right away! In the meantime, we appreciate your patience, and invite you check back in a half hour for an update."

One new user commented on the current outage, writing: "Xbox Live is down. Son can't play with his new Xbox One / even play games OFFLINE because it can't get by the system update screen, epic fail."

Lizard Squad's official Twitter page claims the group are behind both attacks, posting messages saying: "PSN #offline, Xbox Live #offline."

"Everything is staying down, even if we get suspended."

UPDATE 17:00: The Playstation support team announced PSN was back online in some areas earlier this morning on Twitter however, people are still reporting problems with connecting to the service.

The Ask Playstation account recently posted: "We are aware of this issue and our Team is working hard to fix it as soon as possible, thank you for your patience."

They had earlier tweeted that services were returning to normal: "We are seeing reduced reports of network issues. We'll continue to monitor - thanks for your patience and happy holidays!

"If you were having issues with PSN earlier, please try again."

Sony confirmed there were problems with its Playstation online services on Twitter, writing: "We are aware that there have been issues reported with PSN. Thanks for your patience as we investigate."

Microsoft meanwhile registered issues had been reported for several Xbox Live services on their official website: "Unable to view certain content from within Xbox Music and Xbox Video, such as the Explore and Radio features? Don’t worry, we’re doing everything we can to get this back to normal.

"Thanks for staying patient in the meantime. Check back in a half hour for an update on our progress."

Users have reported issues with both services on social media, with one fan tweeting: "PSN and Xbox live both down, great!"

It follows warnings from hacker group Lizard Squad in recent weeks that they were planning a DDOS attack on the Xbox Live services for Christmas Day.

The official account of the group claimed they had been involved, writing on Twitter: "How's Xbox Live doing these days?

"So far only affecting the UK, one moment."

"This might be our biggest attack yet."

It is currently unknown whether the same group have been involved in the service problems affecting the Playstation Network
