Sergio Aguero - 2016/17 performances

Had we kept winning and playing as well as we were then of course he would have stayed on the bench. Would you rather have results or sentimentality? You have your read on what Pep was doing and I have mine. I think mine seems much more logical but we'll never know. Pep would have rotated and Kun slotted back in eventually with GJ on the left but as it were I think Pep knew exactly what he was doing and he knew the right buttons to push.
So it is not about pressure - Aguero was not good enough to start. When Jesus comes back and if Pep puts Aguero on bench, Aguero would be walking out of City into starting line-up of any other top team in not only PL but Europe. So effectively Pep is managing Aguero out of team by not starting him and I am not being sentimental when I think that is a very bad idea as we have also realized after 3 games with Jesus.

Very very good tonight. Real fight, quality hold up play and you could literally see the confidence surge through him.

This is the correct interpretation. And the issue was that Aguero's touch find not send the ball goalbound, the defender's deflection did.

It was a close call, but I'm in agreement with the view that the ball would not have gone in.
Hence my point...and I agree, that's why I reference Aguero's "shot". Was just responding to BlueDeadHead who said it was bull***t.

Great result overnight. Good to see Aguero on the scoresheet (he needed that tonight).

Daily Mail still spends half the article being negative to City for our defensive play and talking up how good an offensive team Monaco are. We did score 5 to 3 which means they let in 5.

No doubt the result has not gone down well with many in the media.

Fuck them, fuck them all. With a sharp fucking stick. Then set the ****s on fire and wait until after they burn to ash, to piss on the fucking ****s. Cockroaches.

Total performance, worked hard, scored & assisted. Can't ask for more. Hopefully that's his platform to build from, we all know what he's capable of.

Delighted that he found his scoring boots again. If he can also find his 1st touch we could have lift off. A fit and firing Serg is still the best striker in the Prem, we need him back to his best.

He's doing a good job of getting himself out of his comfort zone, and is starting to look really dangerous. That track back in the second half.... Yes, Sergio. Yes.
A strong, agile lad like you can cause utter havoc by winning balls from the blindside, the opposing side are left out of shape, and away we go.

said it would take a goal, any goal, especially after the first half "miss".

Keeper did him a favour but after that, Kun was back, the way his 2nd just went in, is Kun on form, we just have to keep him there now because he is jekyll and hyde these days.

Great time of season for him to click provided he doesn't get hurt.

I'd just like to point out how lazy and uninterested he was getting into both full back positions to make tackles and how fucking selfish he was for that fifth goal when he was on for the hat trick.

And the assist, and the workrate where he was making tackles deep in his own half and his constant running but yeah, apart from that he was awful.

It's useful when people come out with comments so ludicrous that you know they're either WUM's or idiots isn't it? One of his worst games, jeusus christ.

Put it in match thread, forgot about here!:

Lazy bastard. Can't press, won't work hard without the ball.

And this bit is just fucking sublime. Forget the last pass, on a hat trick, to put the team ahead of him personally, look at the bit before, the drop deep, first time pass and turning around to get into the box. If Jesus had done that people would be writing essays about it.

Thought he was pretty ineffective for the first hour, doing his usual thing of hanging onto the ball for too long, poor lay-offs and poor finishing but his first goal seemed to flick a switch in his head and he was brilliant after that. When he lost the ball then won it back in a full-back position - wow!
