Monaco post match

Hello guys !
AS Monaco fan here, i'll spent some time with you for the following 3 weeks :)

First of all, sorry for my bad english.

So... What a game it was. We got a lot of regrets :/

- I think Jardim outclassed Pep tactically. He putted a lot of pressure on both left and right back and stones, forcing City to let caballero OR otamendi doing the first pass. Wich was pretty awfull for you.
- I see a lot of posts blaming the ref.. Why? Let be honest, there is no awfull mistake. He maybe showed yellow card too easyli for both sides, but except that... There is even maybe a foul on the kun goals.
Aguero didn't played well since he dived before the contact with Subasic
- We let you came back in the game by our own... We gave you 4 free goals. Drive me crazy :/
Never saw Subasic doing a mistake like that in 4 years... And Sidibe cost us 2 goals. Falcao also took a penalty shot awfully shooted when we got Fabinho on the pitch, who never ever missed one, and always take them on another level.
- I keep hope for the return. Subasic, Fabinho were awfull last night. Jemmerson was out, Sidibe and most important Bakayoko played injured. I think if you guys come a bit too confident, we can do it.
- Pep obviously understood the weak point of our defense : Subasic is a goalkeeper that always stay on his line, and we got a small line-up... The free kick taken by City were amazingly well shooted, in an area where we are very, very, very weak.
- I love Sané, and David.
- Congrats to Willy. Not sure that Bravo would have done better. The penalty save is clearly the turning point.

Thanks City for the game, and for the welcoming in manchester! Cya around! :)

Absolute classic last night still thinking about it now. Sane and Sterling were top notch. It's not over yet but glad we have a 2 goal advantage.

Yeah that goal about sums up everything that is wrong with Otamendi. My best guess is that he completely underestimated the 18 year old kid's pace, power, and finishing. Before he knew it he was fucked and it was a goal. Should've listened to me last week when I was saying Mbappe is the real deal and City should sign him up!

We may yet! Problem is, where do we fit him in? Thing is, we've got these other three kids up front now who are pretty good too…

P.S. Citywatch has become that much more important now that Blue Moon Rising seems to have gone completely down the plughole. Keep it up.

I'd take Mbappe, both full backs and Silva the no.10 in a heartbeat! I thought their Silva out-Silva'd our Silva if you see what I mean. He's only 22 as well. Looks a sensational prospect

The really disgraceful, unacceptable goal for me is their second. Ok, the third is a one on one, Stones allows himself to be physically bullied by a striker who is in blistering form – that happens (although I've looked at that about five times, and it may be an illusion, but it seems to me that Stones actually initially wins the ball, then tries to play a touch! rather than hoofing it absolutely anywhere, as you should do, when you're in your own area, if you get any kind of sniff, and against Falcao – but anyway, let that one go for the nonce, it may just be my mistaken impression and a deceptive camera angle, maybe Falcao always had the upper hand, and anyway the finish, let's just admit it, is sublime). But the second, I mean wt actual f! A dead ball situation, not from a difficult angle, that should be threatening nothing. Mbappé gets completely away from Otamendi (who should be clearly goal-side of him), then you see Otamendi look over at Stones briefly, as if to say 'Ok, mate, I've fucked that up, now you clean up'. Stones looks glassily over at Mbappé, but he's well aware that there's another Monaco attacker coming in completely unmarked, and if he commits to Mbappé, Mbappé will just square it behind him, leaving Willy on his own with an expanding net to defend. I know that Mbappé is bloody good, but that goal was just a complete mess between the two central defenders, initiated by what amounts to dereliction of duty by Otamendi.
Kolarov was injured, fair does. But I'd almost rather put my Norwegian Blue parrot alongside Stones than Otamendi.

Stones did win the ball. It's not clear on tv, but we were right near that & actually went 'oh ffs, no' when he gave Falcao the ball back after nicely intercepting it.

Whatever Pep decides, I think we can see that, barring a miracle, we need to score goals in Monaco (& no reason we can't do that). Kolarov, v that pace, could be twice as bad as Otamendi, if he has one of his days.

But we could have scored a lot more last night, so no reason we can't run up a big total over there, then it doesn't matter.

Jokes aside Mbappe is one for IF Kun does end up leaving. City have known about him for a while though and have spoken to Monaco about him. Can't imagine we'll let him move to rival without first having a go ourselves. Maybe if Kelechi goes this summer he could take that spot if Kun does stay? Would be a shame though as for my money Mbappe should only go where he'll get lots of games.

I'll wash my mouth out with soap and water but the ideal move for him right now would be Spurs/Liverpool. He'd walk into their best XI's and they play the kind of football that'd get the best out of him.

So they are still drinking absinthe in France?

You can see why Monaco are doing so well in their league and why so many of those players are being linked away. Other than the two centre halves I thought their entire side would get into most of the top sides in the world!

Still think Mbappe is the one i want though. The kid is going to be something very special.

Insane game. So happy for Sergio but oh my days the defence is shocking. Need Vinnie back now

He won't leave, mate ;)
And both Spurs and Pool can't buy him.

Just read the report in the star, if you can call it one, all about monaco and their 3 goals.
To be fair they did say city scored 1st, didnt even mention the 4th and 5th goals.
Slung the paper away in disgust.
Thought the english press supposed to report on the english teams, l'm fucking livid.

Did he not do the same with a West Ham throw in last season? Not good enough I'm afraid

City did a 40M€ Offer last summer for MBappe, when he had almost no league games. Wich is totally crazy. I don't think it was reasonnable to put more than this until he made more league games, even if i know kylian for 4 years now and it's obvious that he will be the best in the world if he keep away from injury. He got absolutely everything and more over, + a perfect attitude.

Monaco are a really fun team to watch. Full credit to them for playing football, not emphasizing the anti football so common in champions league. They took their goals brilliantly. Falcao is a beast. We played with an edge all night. They couldn't handle Sterling and Sane... and Aguero was moving their backline all over the place. Rewatching the game, I think Stones gets unnecessary criticism. Otamendi's positioning in Pep's system, and our struggles with playing out from the back under pressure are the problem. Great time to be a blue. The great entertainers.
