City pre-season tour of US - v United 20th / Real Madrid 26th / Spurs 29th July

When did Spurs become a "European giant"?

You'd be surprised with how many fans they've got over the pond, partly down to the fact they share the same name as one of the most successful NBA teams of recent years. Americans for you, would've followed United a few years ago if they were into 'soccer'.

Lets get back to proper pre-seasons where you got the players up to speed and sorted out your best line up.

All this flying thousands of miles is just for commercial reasons and nothing else.

We could get a head start on our rivals if we organised pre-season games against the likes of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale etc and would also help those clubs out with much needed revenue.

Sadly those sort of games are a thing of the past certainly for first team players.

Nothing better than travelling to watch our new signing playing at somewhere like Shewesbury in the late July sun. Now it's watching a half paced game from the other side of the world for some sort of sponsored cup that nobody really cares about.

I've grown to hate pre-season. It should be called, marketing season. You could me barely prepare the squad for the season ahead worse if you tried with the way football club do it these days.

Plus the games are just pointless. Why are they on tele? They're fucking shit!
