Liverpool - post match thread.

So that doesn't make it a penalty? He touches the ball, not cleared it, which is still in Firmino s possession and after he faults him. I think it was a penalty. We had 2 penalties as well, but we played so poorly that I can't blame the ref for the result.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

Sergio scored again to add to his incredible record and Pep is rightly proud of the players who gave everything out there today.

I get he's proud of his players but proudest day of his life come on!!!

Yeah Aguero scored and I'm ready happy for him for his missed chances we're ridic

Really enjoyed that, a committed team performance, much more like it. Thought Stones was immense and he's going to be some player when he gets a decent partner to play alongside on a regular basis

On a side note, two slips cost us two goals today (Clichy and Aguero), and against Middlesbrough the players were slipping all over the place.

Happy with the point but oh my Sergio's finishing is abysmal and wtf is pep going on about proudest day of his career

Probably something to do with the fact that the players left everything on the pitch today.....a fantastic reaction to the loss midweek and we outplayed liverpool for a majority of that game.....to the point there was only one team trying to win it in the second half....

Like it or not pool are one of the most dangers teams in the prem....especially against teams like us who will go out and attack them which then gives the space.....we were very brave to play that way today...and it worked.

factor in the tiredness emotionally and physically from Wednesday night and I get exactly what Pep is proud of...you could see that they had worked on nullifying liverpool today WITHOUT compromising his own beliefs of attacking ...teh wide players were key to this pushing so high and wide that it kept liverpool on their toes.....the players executed the plan perfectly and that is why he is proud

I find myself agreeing with you on aguero but I'd say that pep is merely pointing towards the clear disadvantage the team faced from the 1st minute... that is one of the most scandalous refereeing displays I've ever seen, coupled with a dicklick linesmen who ray Charles is modelled on.... its been a long time since I've wanted to invade the pitch and throat chop the official but my God:...

Pep has been subtle in that we were robbed, rather than being a crying twat like Maureen!!

I thought a draw was a fair result actually, both sides missed big chances to win it, and Cabellero made some smart saves throughout. It was very important not to lose, as it will be against Arsenal. The Lallana chance was almost as bad as the Sterling one, and Aguero missed a couple towards the end. I'm fine with a point based on the display.

I do think we got a few things wrong to put on that display though. We were fortunate that Liverpool couldn't capitalise at 1-0 when we looked dead on our feet, and bringing Sagna on changed the game because we finally had some energy where it mattered - I still can't understand why we didn't start that way? Toure is not the man for this type of game, hasn't been for years either.

Im convinced this side will improve ten-fold when we get new fullbacks who can defend, Clichy has been way below par this season, and we don't even want to play our RB's. None of them really work in this type of system, and thankfully they're at the end of their careers.

fully agree

I thought however clichy (who i agree with you about normally) did very well today against a very tricky player...he looked more up for it than ever and was very aggressive. He was unlucky with the slip and then unlucky with the decision.

Otamendi, Stones 9/10, Clichy playing like 25, Fernandinho playing good for 75% of the match at right back, The front three okay, De Bruyne and Silva fabulous.. Agueros misses and poor volley at the end, pretty bad, But I think he played great as a good false 9, like pep wants him to evolve. Gabriel Jesus will fill those shoes but and we will continue to improve.

OH Yaya toure i think we should pay him no more*. Sorry but Yaya is not bigger then the club even know nothing we have accomplished would be without him, Thank you Yaya for being my favourite player with Silva, But time to go.

This is my first time posting and I just hope everyone of you Citizens can not be sad and disappointed about these results, Pep and city will go far. in due time.

Clichy and Sagna are beyond shit. Honestly am sick and tired of the referee decisions as well. Sterling incident was as stonewall a penalty as it can get, the ref can see it. Milner should have been off too. Tackle from behind, right through Sterling and preventing a goal scoring opportunity. Instead we get nothing again... and then they get a penalty.
True it wasn't just the penalty, they would have been down to 10 men and the game would probably have been ours with so much time left, same with Luiz against Chelsea, same with Walker against Spurs... deliberately stopping a scoring opportunity is a red card.

Having said that we lost our heads on each of those occasions, today it took us about 20mins at the 50minute mark to recover from them being awarded a penalty which nobody agreed with especially after what happened in the first half. That's a weakness of sorts, a Barca or a Bayern wouldn't start playing pants even if they rarely have to deal with refs being against them.

I thought we should have won because we created more chances that were scoreable but some will say if you miss your chances you get what you deserve so a draw shouldn't be that hard to take.

Have to say thought the players gave their all today. Only missed chances cost us yet again. Love Aguerro but he really is missing too many now. If we can keep playing open attacking football like this and convert half the chances we miss we will be hard to beat. I think wit GJ playing today we would have finished them off. The foundations are being put in place. I think Pep will get us to where we need to be.

Dunno who you are bringing Clichy in this, He was brilliant, never loses the ball and kept mane in check. whatever about the penalty or result. I am proud of that team on the pitch and every city fan should be. Sagna is the best and only right back we have, we obviously need to buy in that position.

perhaps because getting this group pf players to where it is has been the hardest task he has had to face....he has said this much this week that this is his biggest test as a manager....everyone said he wouldn't be able to play his brand of football in the prem league..he has shown them to be wrong (again) against the darlings of the media

what, did you see the match last season at home v Liverpool.as for missing company today or the last 2 seasons ?, stones and otamendi were brilliant today,

Stones and Otamendi BRILLIANT. Well I have heard it all Defensively we are a fookin shambles and have been all season and for the record Aguero has had a fookin shite week

you are purely going off your thoughts

there is absolutely nothing to suggest Pep doesn't trust him......if that was the case nolito or Kelechi would be playing...sane could be playing more central.

The other FACT that you missed out conveniently when saying we would have beat Monaco and pool today if he had scored was the slightly irrupting one of that if we could defend better (esp against Monaco) we would have still won...it works both ways yet some are conveniently choosing to ignore this and not he back of a very decent team performance are choosing to have a go at the guy who without we would have lost

KDB was awful defensively today. (amazing cross for the goal though)..balls passing him in central midfield all game. and giving the ball away numerous times....Sane not tracking back at times....Yaya being poor defensively on a couple of occasions......all of this contributes to us winning/losing a game.....not just a striker missing a goal...

What about Adam Llanna missing an open goal....what about ferna missing a near open net at the back post...Kdb hitting the post........

Well said, and Pep will get at De Bruyne for his poor hold up play, I think Sterling is evolving into a great player with the hold up with his ability to beat a player, De Bruyne needs to work on his conditioning cause he used to be a lot quicker.

Thought Big Willy had another solid game with some key one inn one saves just seems to have improved so much since he came into the team, hope he resigns in the summer
