It's Quiet - a new dawn

Delph and Fernado's midfield role cab easily be covered by Garcia. Granted both currently show a little more defensive bite than Garcia, but I think his ball possession potential nullifies their advantage unless we a man down and are simply playing survive the last 20 or something like that.

Pep's said quite a few times he sees Fernando basically as the muscle. Someone to come in and throw his weight around, break up play and make tackles. Sort of how he used Keita at Barcelona I guess.

Garcia can't replace him in the squad, they have totally different roles.

Fernando and Delph shouldn't both stay though, they're passengers basically, and I'm not even sure what Delph's niche in the squad is.

Right so:

Out

Yaya
Zabaleta
Sagna
Clichy
Navas
Delph
Fernando
Kompany
Aguero
Bravo
Denayer
Bony
Nasri
Mangala

In

Fabinho
Heinrichs
Isco
Dahoud
Mbappe
Ederson

That's at least £100m in sales and 3 of of our higher earners off the books. The purchases would be at least £180m (with Mbappe far and away the most expensive).

I would guess that Roberts and Mooy will be given chances next year. We would still have space for 1 Homegrown player and 1 foreign player. An English left back would be useful as that would allow space for another midfield or forward.

They both play DM. I already stated they do it differently. I don't think Pep fully trust Garcia yet, once he does, Fernado's role will be irrelevant outside of the above example I described. But my sense is if we buy correctly I.e the likes of Fabihno or Kimmich at RB, the Fernando role will become harder to justify.

With Dihno, Fabihno/Kimich on the squad the need for a specialist muscle will become even less relevant.

As for Delph, outside of backup LB I really don't see how he fits.

My sense is we'd try to move both, but these things are often harder in real life.

That's a lot of names on the out list. :(

Mangala and Bony will be tough to offload. Valencia can't afford Mangala and Bony is on ridiculous wages that no one will pay.

Theoretically Delph should be easy to move. We barely paid anything for him and he is a Brit. A mid table team should easily be able to come up with 8 million for him.

Mangala's probably been Valencia's best player this season, despite the red card this weekend he's been playing like the player we were interested in. If they can't pay the £16m then someone else definitely will. Wages might be a speed bump but I get the sense he'd rather play for less than waste the best years of his career for a slightly larger paycheck.

Bony seems to be getting pretty upset about not playing for Stoke, so I'm optimistic that he'll want to find a new permanent home and not a loan club. His record for Swansea should be enough to make people take a punt on him.

Fear we might have to pay off part of Bony's remaining contract with us. I doubt he will find somebody willing to pay anything close to his current wages. So it will cost us to get rid of him.

Hope so. Looking at that list though. That's s Shit load of players that we need to move on.

Better to be paying £50k a week to him playing elsewhere than the whole £125k a week anyway, so I'm not too bothered to be honest.
