Chelsea (a) post match thread

We'll see if sane can become world class as this is how teams will shape up against him at the very top... confident he can do it

As for that lacklustre last 30 minutes, it was more down to pep, KDB struggled, again, throughout. It actually cried out for yaya this, the pace he could of handled as they were happy to sit back!
Sane got plenty in the bank for me, got huge faith in him.
KDB really becoming an issue, along with Fernandinho.
9 possible games of Clichy left.

Positives;

Delph, Vinny, restricting them to only 2 goals.

On the downside:

Not clinical in front of goal. Plus the inconsistency of Dean. If I was that inconstant at work I would be disciplined. That cnut will probably get one of the high profile TV games at the weekend.

Nowt to do with pep first off...

Its the same old faces who are slowing the game up(silva), the same striker playing mostly with his head down, same lack of self belief from the established wingers/fullbacks(training must be the same 1 drill over and over), same lack of any kind of ability to nutmeg/wrongfoot etc(other than perhaps sane), same lack of urgency, same lack of anything unpredictable, same lack of willingness to play direct instead of pulling back and moving the ball square again and again...could go on.

Slow, unimaginative, and painfully predictable. The squad needs world class additions that already have a winning mentality. Let me ask a serious question here...which players other than yaya and tevez(long gone) have arrived from top european teams used to dominating week in week out? Really struggling to think of any here...this summer window needs to be the one where a few players(like isco)arrive from best clubs in the world. As adding young kids to the situation(unless of gabriel jesus quality) is not going to help with this mentality situation.

Wont even mention the defense at this point.

Nowt to do with Pep, 30 games in, OK!

Winds me up the way City fans are like "oh that's how it's done look at Chelsea... blah blah Italian"... I don't watch football for good defending or examples of how to squeeze the life out of a game(which they did in that second half) anyone who tells me that can sod off we don't want that shite at City we want fluid attacking brilliance, total domination of ball possession.
Bang on, sack watching that shite week in week out. We will be a far better team next season, just enjoy the ride blues.

Go and have a look darling.
It's clear to see that we are lacking two full backs and a centre midfielder at the very least.
We controlled the game today but just lacked players in said positions.
Come back to me next season.
It's like I'm in a time machine.

whatever happens clichy should never wear a city shirt again.

in all honesty I don't think pep has a Scooby do about what is required to win a prem game. ok have this season but much much more is expected next season.
Agree with you, just wasted half a days holiday for that

We're worse under Guardiola than Pellegrini, and it's more than just "the full backs" or "the keeper" or "KDB is in bad form" or "a transition season". We're just awful.

Difficult to disagree.

I hope he has an idea of who he needs....and we have the funds and the determination to get them

I don't understand why we signed Nolito. The coach clearly does not rate him.

He did earlier in the season. From December onwards something seems to have happened. Whether it be his performance in training or something less football related. Was very effective in the earlier months of the season. Shame as I genuinely think Nolito could earn us maybe just a couple of extra points that might make all the difference.

We were away at Chelsea, had 20% more possession, had more than twice as many shots as them, more than twice as many on target, hit the bar & missed a sitter at the end.

They put together 2-3 decent attacks & scored twice from a deflection & a rebounded missed penalty. They're a very solid & clinical team, and that's why they're deserved champions.

We weren't fantastic, especially in the second half, but it was far from the shambles we put together every big game last season - no doubt we have obvious weaknesses & areas to improve next season, but for me I like to at least take note of the progress. Improve the personnel in key areas & I'm optimistic we'll start winning these games next season rather than repeatedly falling into the same traps.

I completely agree

Thought we played quite well but again lacked incision. Don't know who the player is- not anyone we currently have on the books- but we badly need a player who can take the ball in the middle of the park and carry it at pace and past a player. Chelsea could call upon Hazard and, to a lesser extent, Pedro to do that, but we simply run out of steam and look for a square pass ad nauseam.

BT just said it was a Hazard masterclass....what a laugh. Scruffy goal and crap penalty.....yes....what a masterclass??!!.

Even if we'd score a 2nd, Chelsea would've scored a 3rd. Similar story to Monaco away and Arsenal recently.

I can't wait to see Navas and Clichy go, Navas manage to come further and further away from goal with each dribble.

Think Dinho is on the decline as well, not covering the defense at all.

Kompany and Delph positives.

Chelsea is a perfectly balanced team and I hope we can be that as well after the summer.

Good Bournemouth grabbed a point but now we need to start winning again.

Losing tonight has again been self-inflicted by Pep. Starting Delph and Navas ahead of a fully fit Yaya Toure and Sterling, who were left on the bench and have been 2 of our most consistent players this season, was ridiculous. Playing Fernandinho at right-back against Hazard cost us dear and his mistakes causedboth goals tonight- he is a brilliant defensive midfielder, a £30m one at that, and needs to be playing there and only there. Bringing Kompany back tonight was the right call by why on earth play him as the left-sided centre-back where he has never played in his career, in his first game back when Stones is equally comfortable with either foot, that was just bonkers!!
Despite us losing, Pep then waited 80 minutes to make a substitution and brought on Sterling for De Bruyne, who had possibly been our best player on the night, and left Navas, by far our worst player on the night, on the field. To then add insult to injury, three minutes later he brought on Nolito, who has not scored since 10th December, for Sane, currently our most dangerous player and main goal threat, with 8 goals in his last 14 appearances from a wide position, yet still kept on Navas, who has not scored for over 3 seasons- absolutely bonkers!!!. I'm starting to think Pep is completely out of his depth in English football and we are not even going to finish in the top 4- Arsenal are now only 4 points behind with a game in hand and always finish the season strongly. Right now, Pep is a complete liability with his crazy decision-making every game. I challenge any City fan to justify some of his decisions tonight and in the rest of this season. The facts are we have taken 3 points out of the last 12 and this has been our worst season in 6 years. We are going backwards under Pep right now....

Games like that really make me feel kun is on his way. We just don't involve him in games like that, like a total passenger.

Thought there were a few positives and played some good stuff in the first half.

Conte showed he is tactically superb with that change and killed the game. Fair play to Chelsea, deserve to win the title at this rate.

Sergio relies very heavily on his service nowadays.

In his first 3/4 seasons at City he could win games and unlock defences on his own, now he can't.

Can't defend, can't finish. Not a great combination. You can see what we're trying to do and it's working, but just individual incompetence is just destroying us this season. Sick to death of some of these players and can't wait to see the back of some of them
