It's Quiet - a new dawn

I know it's amazing why some people feel the need to turn into the clubs accountants all of a sudden?
A (very brief) ex city manager once told me one thing is certain as a manager, you're going to get the sack, so spend whatever money's available. It's not yours, and if you don't spend it some fucker else will.

I'd love to know what they think of some of the shit we've bought in the past three seasons , Khaldoun every year when he appraises the season says it's not been good enough, I'd wager a bet they don't think a milk cup is a good return for the money they've spent do you ? I'm happy with my ST prices but spending more than anyone else doesn't give me any personnel satisfaction , when we have a sprinkling of youth lads make it who at least live within a 10 mile radius of the club the sooner the better, we might just have an identity in doing so, spending £300m on half a dozen expensive greedy imports with no mentality will only prolong the process.

Fuck it lends spend 1.5 billion instead .

Good to see you that you have come to your senses :)

You seemed to have forgotten the Spuds spunking the Bale money on a pile of shit without winning fuck all in the process?

He didn't cost much though did he Bale , the point is they are a very good side who didn't cost anywhere near what our team does and it shows that spending £300m doesn't guarantee success, there results don't lie or their goals for and goals against. We have been very very average this season with very expensive players on the pitch.

Indeed, it's all about supply and demand and until it starts affecting my bank balance then let them crack on with it

Maybe so, but for all the talk about how good Spurs are, they're going to miss out on the title again. Same as us. They've a chance of winning the Fa Cup, but they've not won anything in years. For all the criticism of our spending, we've got our trophies in the bag.

That's the problem with City in a nutshell , our best signings didn't cost vast sums, we all know who they are and one of them scored on Sunday and it meant something to him.

The last three seasons have been poor, very poor with the money we've spent ,I get what you say about Spurs but they are a better side than us and have been for two seasons , money doesn't mean success - if it did we'd have at least challenged for the PL for the past three seasons instead of the last 8 games challenging for the top four trophy.

Not sure about that Toure, Aguero silva were all expensive at the time, and recently our best signings Sterling, Sane, and DeBruyne have cost a fair bit

I love it that we are being linked with the likes of Sanchez & Mbappe, but I'd seriously like to see a few strong rumours/links with a couple of quality fullbacks, a world class goalkeeper and a top drawer centre half.
Strengthening that leaky defence is a must and cannot be neglected, we could do with some concrete links.
We've already been linked with one of the best young goalies in Ederson and we previously showed strong interest in Rulli.

So once we settle either we should be good on that front.

As for fullback, this is our easiest problem. We have no players to offload or try to dump.. They are all out of contract. Zaba is supposedly going to West Ham and Sagna to France. I wish them both and Clichy well. But replacing them will be easier now that we don't have to move players on from those positions.

CB will be harder coz we have 4 capable starters. Not to mention our defense isn't uniquely leaky. Despite what the pundits and fact deniers say.

I couldn't agree with you more, too many people assume spending shit loads on players equals success and Spurs and Leicester are the proof that it doesn't.

it's obscene the amount we have spent on players in the past three seasons and what have we won? Other PL clubs seem to pick up value for money cheaper players but we don't, and they seem to have a better mentality.

Look at Spurs defence as an example , it's twice what ours is and cost a quarter of what we have spent. We are a cheque book club throwing its weight around.

The difference is that Spurs or Leicester will effectively never win the CL whereas we're building a team that should threaten for it yearly. Do you want value or to dream big? We've gone the route that gives us the option to win both at the sacrifice of a few seasons. That's ok for me. We could have won MP's second season and we could have won this year too. It's not as dreary as it appears.

We should sign a new CB though, we can't rely on Kompany for the season. Also we should sell Otamendi whilst he's still worth something and invest in a more long term partner for Stones. Van Dijk/Laporte

Spending isn't the issue. Everyone spends. Its getting rinsed that's the problem. Spurs might not have won anything, but none of the players they got for the Bale money was outrageously priced.

As a matter of logic this is incorrect. This proves that you can get success without spending a lot, not that spending a lot does not bring success. Over recent years Utd Chelsea and ourselves have spent the most and all been successful.
I agree that you can get better value than we have had and chucking money at a problem won't necessarily solve it, but the teams that have spent a lot have done well.

we have 2 CBs, then Kompany for special appearances and Kolarov pretending to be a footballer when required.

I know Otamendi is not very popular here, but he'd be the least likely to be sold of the 3 if I was management.

He has 2 more years on his contract as opposed to 1 for Kolarov. He is by a large margin the healthiest CB at the club. His likely replacements VVD and Larpote have both has serious injuries in the past, so a reliable replacement is a must. Its is reliable.

Ignore the arguable fact that he is in fact the best CB at the club currently and focus just on value added, and its easy to see why he should be kept over others.
