Don't blame May for her opportunism.

Hope that women MPs with kids will get proper security protection. There will be more nut jobs out there.

Just seen a video of that nice Mrs May telling Andrew Marr a few weeks ago that there was no way - categorically no way - that she would change the law and call a snap election as we need a period of stability to guide the country through Brexit talks and come out all the stronger.

That followed her announcement in Downing Street that she was calling a snap election so she could guide the country through Brexit talks and come out all the stronger and that we need to trust her.........................

Wonder what other "cast iron" promises she will be making in the next fortnight.
A few weeks is a really really long time in politics.

Corbyn just said labour will back the call for an election

This election is about one thing and one thing only.... keeping the Conservatives in power. There is no need for a General Election they already have a majority in Parliament so why call one? If you want a continuation of NHS waiting times, underfunded schools, lack of nursing care for the elderly then that is what you are voting for. BREXIT is just a whitewash as we have already voted for it and just about all sides have accepted it and even if they hadn't they still have a majority in the Commons.

they were the Polls that predicted Remain and Clinton victories? They may be right on the outcome but I'd seriously doubt their numbers these days
It's been released by YouGov on April 12th. Don't shoot the messenger.

I see the political journalists have already told us the result and who we should vote for. They look like they are all about to orgasm!!

2 reasons, as it is the next election would come at the most crucial stage of negotiations for brexit, secondly lords and others are making a nuisance of themselves trying to block the process in some cases, to their shame i should add. So this will give May the iron fist she needs to deal with them whining so and so's and generally give her the mandate she needs to have a strong hand at the brexit table.

I doubt we need political journalists to tell us the result; most people will have a suspicion who's going to win. Then again, the "remain-ers" were ahead on the night before the brexit poll, so who knows? But I wouldn't be putting big money on a labour win.

Because he's a selfish little shit who wants to be the prime minister, he actually believes he has a shot.

If he really had the country and his party's best interests at heart he would block the bill. Resign and get someone like Hilary Ben to lead the party. He'd then have enough time to get labour into the shape it needed to win a general

How about a Bluemoon poll at the top of this thread @Ric ?
BM was spot on with the Brexit vote. It will be interesting to see if the BM membership reflects the population again.

I've been voting since 1974. Never have I felt so disinclined to vote for any of the parties. Looks like being a "None of the above" vote for me.

On a predominantly (though not exclusively) Labour supporting (or, more precisely, Tory hating) forum? Not sure what result would come about other than a Labour win. But that's up to the gaffer.

I think there's enough disillusionment with Corbyn on here to make it interesting.
