It's Quiet - a new dawn

The closer we get to the transfer window the more convinced I am that we'll actually buy four players only one will make any impact next year due to injuries.

I'm watching the clasico and in the light of our performance today it's just so apparent we are just miles away from the level of these teams, let alone Peps Barca or Mourinho's Real who were much better than these two incarnations.

The way they move the ball, the way they play out the speed of thought, the movement...we're two levels below in everything.

4 or 5 world class players are needed and the owners just have to give Pep what he needs, and us fans just have to accept it and appreciate he knows better than anyone what a great side looks like.

If he wants to get rid of everyone or anyone in the squad to make that happen then that's what needs to be done.

Yep defending is shite though

This is absolutely correct. Not only that, they both played CL this week and were both going at it for the whole game. That shower of ours were out on their feet after 80 minutes after walking about for most of the game. It's no coincidence that English clubs are nothing but canon fodder when they play any team that moves the ball quickly and runs into space. 92 minutes Barca player crosses ball and there are FIVE Barca players in the box. I don't think we got five into the box all game!

Its not just the world class players, its the role players we need to improve.

Ter Steven and Navas made some magical saves to keep their teams in it. We need that. The guys off the bench were dynamic. We need players like that. Right now we are struggling to manage with error prone guys.

That's true but we already know that and I think everyone accepts it.

What everyone isn't on board with is replacing our best players because someone else is better, but I think that's where we need to get to.

not starting an argument but have you got a few examples? mbappe for kun, that sort of thing? because i cant think off of my head of better players than ours which are buy-able

Otamendi, Fernandinho, someone to bench Sterling and Sané. Someone who puts De Bruyne on the bench if he goes through another bad patch.

The players are buyable, we have the money, we have the wages and we have Pep.

okay i get that. First, why would you want to bench two young players who are having good seasons. Otamendi and fernandinho, aren't so young so probably are bench-able, but buy who exactly?
And you'll be first to say about the problems with rotation, so it's not easy to 'bench' players

Isco, Marcos Llorente, Sanchez, Van Dijk, Mbappe, Grimaldo, Ederson, Henrich.

To list a few players in positions that could be upgraded or challenged.

Marcos Llorente and Van Dijk. Even though if I'm being honest, its not Otamendi I'll be benching at CB.

this may sound stupid but I'm fine with CBs atm. only need a replacement if Kompany leaves. Otamendi/Stones/Kolarov/Kompany have been fine this season I think. The fullbacks are the real issue and the base of midfield. If we were to get a new CB, i would sell off otamendi for decent £££.
I've got no idea who Llorente is so I can't comment on him.
Personally I think we have a problem up top with Kun, have not been impressed with him at all, although he's had a run of alright games last few

I agree we don't need a CB unless one leaves. I doubt Ota should be that one though. He is currently the best CB at the club. And while I reckon he won't be a starter starternext year, having him as the 3rd CB. Will keep us studded at the position.
On the other hand to lay it all at Kun's feet is easy, but in truth the problem is deeper than just him. We need an 11 who can press consistently and comfortably. Meaning, Dihno energy with Silva's technique. So Isco, Llorente. Thiago's brother at Barca, Grimaldo, Henrichs. These are guys with technical skills. Sanchez to challenge and bench one of Sane or Sterling or Mbappe if we can get him. We need to push a few of our starters to the bench so we have good talent off the bench.

RM are going to be in the market for a striker I think, Mbappe, Aguero, Auba or perhaps moving Ronaldo there. But Benzema has scored a whopping 9 goals in a team like that, which is really bad

Rafinha and Grimaldo are both too injury prone, both have had 2 long term injuries

Would be nice to see a press briefing in the next few days about how pissed off Guardiola is with how completely shit this season has been, and how the transfer window is going to make waves.

We've not improved since January, in fact I don't think we've had a great performance against competent opposition since the first Arsenal game, and as a fan it would be nice to hear that everyone at the club is as angry as the fans are.

If he's only spending 3 years here, then he needs to start winning pretty much everything pretty damn quickly to have been worth the 3 year wait plus complete reorganisation of the club that happened in order to get him here, and I'm saying that as probably one of the biggest Pep fans on here.

If you like your CB sat on his fucking arse 40 yards from his own goal, then Otamendi is the best there is.
True, he does slide and miss some time. But he is still by a good margin the best CB at the club currently.
