Arsenal(FA Cup Semi Final) Post Match Thread

It seems Aguero was hurt, but bringing on delph and Fernando was very naive as it's more about the message it sent to players and fans, i.e we can't win this game from here.

Final point.... our lack of fitness was very obvious yesterday. Looked at the number of players lay on the floor at end of 90 mins and was convinced we were done.

So who should have brought on for an obviously injured Aguero? Kolarov, Zabaletta, Cabellero? Fuck me our bench was weak as fuck due to the squad not being good enough once we have injuries, it needs some serious strengthening this summer.

They say score when you're on top, we did, but got it chalked off.
We should've had a penalty, which would've made it it 2-0 before half time, even if they'd been awarded a penalty, we would still be 2-1 up at half time.
Cynical hacking from Arsenal, no protection from the ref, on 2 occasions our best players were attacked, resulting in Silva having to be replaced.
2nd half we hit the woodwork twice.
We did enough to win this game easy, the difference I'm afraid to say was the referee and poor officiating.
I don't mind losing to a better team, but when you know you've been cheated, it leaves a very foul taste in the mouth.
Hopefully if we put enough pressure on the FA they will speed up the introduction of the video ref, which would easily sort out contentious decisions like this, in 30 seconds.

Would far rather lose and deserve to lose, than lose because the officials are bent or useless, or maybe both. The feeling of what should have been is much worse when you have been cheated. How that fucker didn't get booked for the gbh on Silva, how a goal can be ruled out when the fucker can't have been sure (benefit the attack my arse), how we didn't get a pen for the foul on Sergio, how it was a free kick for their winning goal, how did we get so many more bookings than a team who set out to foul? Leaves a fucking appalling taste. The reffing was like playing Barcelona

1st half was good 2nd half was poor but had the ref done his job and not cheated us we'd be through to the final. I'm so pissed off this morning not with how we played or what Pep did with the subs but the officials they're a joke. Our goal stands and when we score the other it's 2-0 game over then most of these discussions wouldn't be happening. Football is being spoilt and it's pretty much every big game for us it's a joke.

I've had an email this morning to fill in a survey about my Wembley experience and I took the opportunity to say that the day was ruined by the officials. Not quite in those terms but very definitely put............ not that anyone will take note but at least I said it....... I also told them that the semi-final should not be at Wembley but at a neutral venue especially when one of the teams is from London!!

If you get the survey try and get the points across about the officials, if enough people do so maybe someone will take notice.

are there any pictures anywhere of the flag display before the game. the best team in the land banners looked awesome, as did all the various fans flags.

I agree, Sergio did very little yesterday, apart from score one with an exquisite finish, have another wrongly disallowed, and earn us a penalty (that wasn't given). But hey, what did the Romans ever do for us ?
ps i forgot he was rather good at giving them somebody to kick the shit out of with impunity!

Something I didn't realise until I watched the 'highlights' just now on MOTD FA Cup on BBC, we had those blue and silver 'flags' and the Arsenal fans had flags with their badge on. Who decides which/what type of flag to leave on the seats for fans? Just a little light hearted question to lighten my gloom if not your gloom, fellow Bluemooners. :-)

Also I can't remember losing a fa cup semi final before, my first game was 1964, first post war fac semi final defeat?

It's been mentioned several times that the Emirates sponsorship of the FA Cup and the Tarquins represents an unacceptable conflict of interest

But someone just pointed out another factor that I hadn't even thought about... Who are Emirates main competitor.. yep Etihad Airways

We've been royally fucked over

Arsenal in three finals out of the last four, before this when did they last make it to the final, seems a bit strange..

And their nearly all their matches on the routes to the finals have been against inferior opposition at the Emirates Stadium... which is obviously plastered everywhere with the Emirates logo... fucking stinks

Disappointment with the result but not so much the performance. I thought we did more than enough to win it first 45 alone and whilst Arsenal came into the game we had more than enough chances to win still.

Someone at City needs to compile a video of refereeing fuck up's over this season to post to the FA. Pretty much every single game against top 4/5 has seen us shafted.

Watch Cech, not once does he appeal he actually tries to put it behind for a corner yet can't reach it, his reaction alone says it wan't out yet the linesman just guesses.

But how can we do that if good goal are disallowed, penalties not awarded?

We can't overcome blatant cheating when you can't appeal as you're fined or suspended for saying anything, yet everyone knows it was an incorrect decision (again).

You're blinkered though mate and also strangely arguing the decisions which I agree with!! I get what you're saying but you can overcome blatant cheating, despite that cheating we took the lead. We then failed yet again to defend properly whilst offering nothing in the final 3rd. You can agree the ref was shit but acknowledge pep and the players could of done more.

No? He's said as much himself.

We've lost more games than won? What are you talking about?

I'm quite prepared to say things aren't so rosy, that's one big reason you're going to see a mass exodus this summer.

How gracious of you, we should let him know!

Why do you think anyone here should give a shit?

The entitlement in this post, and that which I responded to earlier, is shocking. Our owners have brought in Pep to transform the club as part of a long-term project that goes far beyond this season or even next. If they are happy with him and his progress then he'll continue to work and build and transform, as he was brought in to do.

I've said from the beginning that I believe we'll win a Champions League under Pep, but it wouldn't happen immediately or for some time. His style takes time for even talented youngsters to adapt to and half his squad he inherited from his predecessor's predecessor (and most of them are long past it)

Things may not seem so rosy for you or the moaners, but I'm pretty excited for the future under Pep Guardiola based on what I've seen, what he's added (see: Sane-Jesus-Sterling), and his determination to make it right.

But go ahead and get the "Pep Out" banners made and watch the whole damn football world laugh at us for our small-mindedness.

LOL Iv'e come across jilted lovers who have a greater sense of proportion than this.
I am willing to give your hero a chance so calm down.

This highly paid individual had six months to think about his new job and has had his pals on site for some time now.
He spent circa 170m during the window and as such is deserving of criticism should he fall short by any objective standard.
He is trying to introduce a new way of playing (I have argued before that it is a philosophy in decline and unlikely to be successful in English context) and deserves
some time to be allowed bed things in.

However, he has not helped his cause by some early decisions the JH sage being a good example of the type of mistakes he has made.
That said I believe he should get another 170m and go again next season. However, if we have not moved forward this time next year I think people would be justified in asking should he be given yet another 170m for another shot. The answer to that is maybe or maybe not. You are perfectly right that the decision will not be down to me and anybody else contributing to this forum but we all have a view that we are allowed express. The fact that a growing minority of people are not as excited as you are about the future does not mean that we are not entitled to have this point of view and more importantly does not mean we may not be right.

I hope you are right and Pep brings home the CL some day but on the evidence to date that will not be anytime soon.

Doesn't work for us in CL with Nissan as our sponsors though :-(
