It's Quiet - a new dawn

Bloody hell what the obsession with English players, just get the best players available and promote from our academy ffs

It's good to have a strong group of homegrown players who know each other. But besides that, Walker and Rose are very good fullbacks. I'm not really sure whether any of the mentioned full backs like Mendy, Gaya, Bernat, Semedo, Sidibe etc. have anything over those two but they'll cost about the same. We're not getting a player like Carvajal from Real Madrid or Alaba or even Sandro from Juventus (are we?). Even Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Walker, he's a solid right back with good pace and defensive skills.

As for Pickford, I have my doubts over Ederson who will cost twice as much money and I don't know whether he'll be good or will end up like Bravo who was also very good at Barcelona but so far flopped in the Premier League and cost us a lot of points, but that's just me. I don't watch Benfica regularly.

Better to have Sanchez weighing in with 17-18 - creating another ten, and Jesus bagging another 20, than remaining reliant on one man.

Well maybe we will find out next season tolm. But personally I'm concerned about going into a season with no out and out striker.

Jesus, Sanchez and mbappe would be unstoppable in a trio!! Along with sane the pace there would be a defenders nightmare!

I read all the same arguments for Yaya staying two years ago.

That worked out well.

We should not allow things to drag out and sour if Sergio decides he will be better served elsewhere.

It's a good job yaya stayed because at the moment his level of performance is in a different league to Fernandinho. Personally think they may have to give yaya another year. Surely with Fernandinho out of sorts this season, Fernando just dire, gundogan crocked and delph always injured we can't afford to spunk £70m or £80m on 2 top class midfielders.

I mean, that's not so unusual for Pep Guardiola, but as Tolm and @BillyShears have said, we'd probably look to Mbappe if Kun decides to move on anyway.

If the rumours true though that we have around £200m to spend, why would we blow half of it on one player. Let's remember our main issues in the defensive half of the pitch.

All our players have gone missing...

The only players who never go missing are Silva and Aguero. He might miss chances but you best believe he has the most competitive mentality in the team so why not ship him out.

He's had an off year for sure but has still found goals somehow. Imagine if he'd been on. We'll probably never know.

We will watch him win champions league with Madrid next year that will be nice.

Enough of me whining.

The real fear is when Aguero leaves and we replace him with an 18 year old who has scored 14 goals this year and another 18 year old who will be playing his first year in Europe... you are banking on peps philosophy to the extreme when we all know players win games.

Just look at Messi. He is barcas success not Pep.

Well if Aguero decides to leave, we'd get likely around £70m for him, which would go towards a run on Mbappe.

I agree about our priorities being at the back, but I'm sure you would agree that if Aguero elects to move on then the club should do its utmost to find the best replacement available, no?

Sanchez isn't necessarily even a factor here since he could, in theory, play alongside Kun.

Bit harsh that, he was a hugely talented young player, but he really exploded under Pep's management.

Maybe he would have anyway, maybe not to the same extent, but i'm sure Messi would say Guardiola had a big impact on his career.

Signing a new no.1 stable GK has to be a priority alongside new FBs of course.. Can't have another season where it's a toss on who's starting the next game from game 1.And no,Pickford certainly isn't the answer..He is a sideways move to Hart.He certainly doesn't improve the squad one bit.
Donnarumma or Ederson is the answer.

Pickford in the CL games, good luck with that

Silva hasn't gone missing tbf but the rest of them have. Where have they been when we needed them the most? Monaco away? Liverpool away? Spurs away? Southampton at home? That's just to name a few. Having said that I think we'll be a lot better next season when we get the right players. I think at the moment Pep's playing a system that doesn't fit the current players we have. You look at the line up against Middlesbrough on Sunday, Clichy and Navas are shit wing backs. If we had say Mendy or Walker we would've played a lot better in the first half.

As for the second point, I wouldn't fear losing Aguero to be honest. We've coped well whenever he hasn't played i.e due to injury or suspension. Its just a matter of who we bring in. I think if we bring in Mbappé, Pep will be thinking about the future rather than the present. Both Mbappé and Jesus will terrorise premier league teams and Europe for the next decade or so.

My only fear is who we sign as our fullbacks. I pray we don't get both Walker and Rose. I'd prefer it if we got Fabinho and someone like Grimaldo or Hernandez who'd cost half the price of Walker and Rose.

Whilst I am not exactly enamoured with the idea of Pickford, we have been burnt massively with purchases of promising players from Portugal.

The Premier League has a very good track record of proving to be very difficult in adapting to adapt in regards to goalkeepers coming from continental Europe, in particularly from Latin countries.

Messi is easily the best player going today and arguably the greatest of all time but one player does not make a team. He was/is the driving factor but a little more respect is due to the likes of Iniesta/Xavi/Busquets and even Pep for the system implemented which absolutely dominated the game.

sanchez would not be an upgrade he would be a welcomed addition ,not many players would be an upgrade on Sergio.

I really don't see this idea of Sanchez being a direct replacement for Sergio.

Sanchez isn't a central striker for me and if brought in he would be put on one of the wings.

Pep barely played Sanchez as a CF at Barca.

If anyone is replacing Aguero it is Jesus and even at that, Jesus is flexible. People aren't seeing the bigger picture, Pep clearly prefers flexibility within his squad.
