Pep Guardiola has instructed Manchester City to offer Jesus Navas a one-year contract extension. [@Sammy_Goal]

.@Sammy_Goal Jesus Navas is set to stay as a reserve right-back after receiving an offer from City that trumps anything from Sevilla. [@Sammy_Goal]

I like, must mean zabba is off

navas is reportedly being offered a one year extension.

Seems strange decision given we should be blooding potentially better wingers such as Roberts rather than sticking with players we know are sub-par.

i think he will be used as a right back from now on. i dont think hes good enough. id much rather maffeo was given a chance, behind a first choice right back

i guess to be a backup right back. so we wont be buying two new right backs, just the one. seems like a good idea if 1. the new right back will stay fit and 2. it allows us to spend more money elsewhere.

Worth noting that the same source says the only other out-of-contract player who's fate has been decided is Sagna, who will be leaving.

To me, this is just business. We need a new right back but require squad depth too.

Haha madness.

Can't wait till they announce Clichy or Kolarov will still be first choice left back next season too.

What is it Pellegrini and now Guardiola sees in Navas that the extremely large majority of us can't?

The source specifically states he won't be first choice, ie, we are getting a new RB. We'll be getting a new LB too.

A decent pro that tries to the best of his ability. He isn't that productive going forward but has been ok at RB. It would surprise me if he is offered a new contract but there are players I'd rather see leave before him.

That's me confirmed in not going next season.

This lad just fills me with frustration that I don't need in my life.

He was MOTM a couple of weeks ago, and is still learning the position. We've got to buy a lot of players as it is. Can't dump everyone. Although I don't like the way he pushes Sterling in field. I think that's seriously hampered Raheem.

Cheap back up option so we can spend on something else. Not happy about it, but I understand it. The dreaming of a wholesale remodel not to mention the slew of high-priced names bandied about in the It's Quiet thread isn't and was never going to happen. We will get a few and fill in the rest with B and C options. It will take Pep more than one window to get "his" squad.

Surely Maffeo is a better option?!

Maybe the prospect of bringing in 4 new full backs is too much and he knows Zaba and Sagna will be gone and he'd rather Maffeo stayed on loan. People need to chill the fuck out on here and see what happens over the summer before hanging pep out to dry.

Can't cross, can't defend and can barely pass the ball. Give that man a new contract!
