Palace - Post Match Thread

No. It was a case of everyone clicking today. Literally all eleven made a real contribution. How often can we (or anyone else for that matter) say that?

Another factor was the early goal in each half. We scored at killer times.
Maybe. I wanted to see what impact Jesus would make, but it was the other players who took the limelight. I thought Sane was the pick of our forwards. Very unusual for two central defenders to score. I think it was our day. One game doesn't change anything

I was nervous at 1-0. At that time I was thinking about all the other games we have seen and this one looked no different. The 2nd killed it. In previous games we haven't been able to kill games off. Let's see if we can beat Leicester who are playing very well, and who unlike Palace will relish playing City

Sane was good on the eye and going to be a great player but Sterling was the one with the end product yesterday, seems a lot fans dont see that.

I think the Aguero/Jesus discussion is a bit of a (very pleasing) diversion. For me, the real problem has been the lack of goals from elsewhere, particularly midfield and, occasionally, defence.

The difference yesterday was not the movement from Jesus, great though it was, but the fact that goals came from Silva, Kompany, DeBruyne, Sterling and Otamendi. Another couple of goals each from each of the midfielders with the defenders chipping in from set pieces and I think we'd have seen a few more points.

Let's be honest, Palace not marking Silva was suicide. That said it was nice to have a game where we scored from 1/4 of our opportunities.

Yesterday's game at face value suggested jesus had a big impact, but he had nothing to do with Kompany's decisive 2nd. Up until then yesterday was following the route of all the other games that started promisingly and ended badly.

I think it's a bit of both: Sterling, Sane, KDB, Silva not getting as many goals as they should. And Aguero getting easier to mark.

Sane could have scored a couple of goals yesterday. I am sure that both he and KDB can score double figures each season

KDB miles out in front in the assists charts now. 15. 3 better than anyone else in the league. His closest rivals at City are Sterling and Silva who are on 7

I was impressed by Gabriel Jesus's calm hold up play and movement. He is a team player with mental and physical toughness and will grace the team for many years.

I sat there really worried yesterday despite a great performance. How on earth do we replace the magician that's is David Silva. He sees angles that most players can't even dream of. Hope he carries on for years to come but we need someone very special to replace him. Something I noticed yesterday was that Sane, Jesus and Sterling seem to know exactly where he is going to place the ball we have not always had that in previous seasons with some other players. Sane is going to be world class the lad absolutely scares defences, he is going to some player. Loved watching him today. Vincent what can you say. After his goal you can just see the respect he commands everyone went over delighted for him. A true leader on and off the pitch and if only we would have had him fully fit all season. Let's hope he is over the injuries. He loves the club our modern day Mike Doyle. Did Pep have a word with KDB as he was also back to his best today. Gabriel might not have scored but his positioning and runs mean the opposition defences don't know where to turn with Sane, Sterling and Jesus. Shout out for Willy's save. Sergio is an absolute legend who should have a statue built of him when he eventually does leave. However, think his role may need to change as he has said himself, going back to a role he has played previously. The fluidity of the side yesterday was fantastic. Back to front so quickly with pace to burn. Great team spirit as well. Sure Palace had a makeshift defence but you can only beat what's put in front if you. BFS - we gifted them all 5 goals - very sore loser. Promising signs.... Now let's finish the qualification off.

That is it in a nutshell. It's completely nonsensical when Aguero gets the blame for the side not scoring when he has delivered consistently and each week chances have been missed by the likes of Silva/KDB/Sterling etc. These missed chances have been the story of the failure of the season. Not finishing teams when we had the opportunity.

I never get the Sterling bashing think he is a great player and will only get better under Pep.

Wow indeed.

Must have really fucking hurt that performance yesterday yeah?

I will give you some credit for being on at least as most of the posters who share your views of late haven't been fucking seen since early yesterday afternoon for somme strange reason?

Can you elaborate?

Yep on another day Sane could of had a goal or 2 and a couple of assists but facts wise Sterling had the end product yesterday even though he is a player who can frustrate you with his indecisions next game could be Sane being the main end product player but thats wingers for you.

Very good performance yesterday. Another clean sheet with Vinny in a back four. No pissing about with a back 3 anymore please Pep

Loved the fact we was dishing out some strong tackles ourselves when the ref decided he'd just allow the palace players to crock us

To think there are some fans who genuinely think we should get rid of him this summer.

I have yet to come across 1. Occasionally frustrating with his finishing, but brings so much else and at the momentit is a toss-up between Vinny and Silva as to who is the most influential player. Kompany controls our defence. Silva dictates possession.

Their fitness probably determines our success next season

I've read posts on here with people suggesting that we are too reliant on him so it's hindering our development as a team having him in it. Something along those lines anyway.
