Pep: I would have been sacked at Barca or Bayern.

Like most of you I am not a fan of Talksport but sometimes when I am driving I tune in because there's nothing else on the radio.

Just now I was driving home listening and they were interviewing some guy from Spain (an English guy) and he made a sort of profound remark along the lines of having been in Guardiola's company, interviewed him and listened to interviews with him and had come to the conclusion that he is idiosyncratic and that since he came to England bizarrely his conversational English has slightly gone backwards, something he thinks will be rectified this summer when he is not just talking football to the media! He also said that it was noticeable that Guardiola not only winked at the camera but also mentioned the fact that it would be their headline for this morning. The Talksport interviewers, I felt in this instance although normally I detest them, were very fair and pragmatic themselves. It was a reasonable interview for them.

I've got 6 days left before I make my final end of term report on Guardiola!! I've said that I would not make a final judgement until the end of the season and I am waiting until Monday morning. :-)

Why should I be angry if Pep manages to deliver? I'll be absolutely delighted if he does succeed.
My only problem is I expected him to be much better than he has been. Indeed his lack of pragmatism and the failure to deploy tactics that take away opponents best offensive weapons has been a real eye opener. (Only once has he been pragmatic Barca @ Home)
I'm sure we will improve when we get a decent Keeper, some top quality fullbacks and one if not two quality DMs.
But to pretend that this season has been remotely good by Pep is laughable.
Quite simply, Pep needs to be more pragmatic in the Premier League and in Europe. If he isn't, he will not deliver.

In the words of the great Bobby Manchester, only this.

Talkshite were all over this, this morning. Have a City gone backwards under Pep?

The thing that annoys me is, if we sacked Pep Guardiola then the phone in topic would be, "Manchester City sack the best coach in the world after one season, are they trigger happy owners and who would touch them after this?" Don't rise to it, just don't....

nobody really can be saying pep should be sacked that would be absolutely mental.

however , equally we are allowed to say surely without being accused of being a rag or not committed to say , we have been slightly disappointed with the season.

I think even pep was saying this really.

There are successful clubs and unsuccessful clubs. "Big club, small club" is just pointless dick-waving.

ANY new manager deserves at least one transitional and potentially underwhelming season - they don't always get it of course but I'm perfectly happy for Pep to do what he thinks is needed in the summer window.

I didn't like the fact that he said "at a big club, I would have been gone"
I hope it's just a slip of the tongue, but it seemed to me he was inferring that we aren't a big club? !

He's implying we are a big club. But read it as you will.

Read a few comments and a few headlines on newsnow; plus what Pep actually said. Predictable mountain out of mole hill time.

The fact he is getting a "second chance" at City shows that City see the bigger picture and may set them apart from other big clubs.

To be honest, as much as anything I think he was praising the club for their patience and giving him time to get it right, which he might not have been afforded at his previous clubs.

Top comment to date. He has always said he is thankful that he was given this job from day one. Always acknowledged this is the hardest league to even finish top four let alone win it, but that he was up for the challenge. Think next season he will surprise a few, and he will be more pragmatic next season. Don't think he has done anything to date to lessen the reputation of our club and fans.

What he needs to do is, learn English, and remember lo leave his nose alone when being interviewed, its like watching Jack fucking Douglas. !

Will the Rags sack the 'Special One' if United end up with just a trophy with 3 handles, that wasn't a proper trophy last season, and EL football again?

No!

Will the media hound the Special One for his failings this season? No!

United and Jose will see to that.

When he say's 'big club' it is short hand for Bayern, Barca, Madrid and Juve to a slightly lesser extent. I think that is the general consensus for anyone who follows the game and not unfair to refer to them in such terms as they have earned it. We are only just below them and knocking on the door, i'll take that for now :-)

If only the majority of his detractors were being so level headed about it, people aren't imagining these idiotic posts that describe Pep as a completely overrated failure(checkbook manager and so on) and that this season is somehow proof of that rather than a mixture of contributing factors that any coach would have struggled with. I genuinely believe that, our new status means we are a scalp we aren't going to be considered the plucky underdogs with nothing to lose like Leicester so anyone drawing parallels there just stop it's bollocks.

Even with the same defence, if we went into games with the idea of simply not to lose, then I would be joining in with people saying our football is shite and boring and negative(because that is the definition of boring football for me, some here unashamedly fap themselves blind over the idea of us setting up that way for some weird reason... they should know they are in the minority) and we'd still have the defensive errors leading to losses(losing 1-0 is not really that much better is it if you still lose?)because we'd be inviting them on to us with less of the ball and too many defenders have been on the slide at once, so the mistakes would still be there and the confidence would wobble again throughout the team. The tactics weren't what cost us the most it was individual errors and poor finishing.

Failure to get champions league and he may well find out we are a big club and failure will not be tolerated. Always get the impression that he thinks hes above us.
I always get the impression that if he was made of chocolate he would lick himself all over, or get Bravo to do it
