Please God no.Bang average and brainless. If Pep signs this guy I really will start to wonder about him.

We won't be able to sign a better right back. Will be amazing to have a full back who can run and will make our attack even more lethal. Would be a great start to the window.

Interesting that he's dividing opinion on this forum so much. One thing seems certain to me. With the confirmation that Bacary's leaving (leaving us only Pablo Maffeo) I think we can pretty comfortably assume that this is all but a done deal behind the scenes. I'd rather have had Rose on the other side, hands down. That's not going to happen.
If Walker is wearing a blue shirt next season, I'll be behind him, and no mistake.Players say stupid things in the press these days, and with 24 hour Twitter surveillance and journos just milking this stuff, because it sells copy, it's a very easy slip-up to make. I won't hold it against him. It's how he does his job that counts.
I hope that Raheem gets plenty of chances to get his own back, pushing him in the back in training, though. Actually, I don't even hold that against him. It's what any defender would and should do when all else has failed. It's the ref and the linesman who didn't do their jobs that day.

I'm not so sure. Go check the Sterling thread. Some of these idiots decide the narratives well in advance then cling to them no matter what the facts.

I once even explained why they think like that but the fannies lost their minds and tried to get me banned so now I'll just leave it there.
Fair enough.

Walker is currently the best right back in the league and we have no senior right backs in our squad so it might just be worth signing him if we can.
I agree he's the best in the league, but if you look through the other teams you won't see anybody in that position that stands out. That said he's obviously a huge upgrade on what we've had over the last 18 months and seems to have most of the attributes that Pep requires from that position.
I'm not overly arsed about him being a **** or not, I just want a problem position to be finally sorted out and this seems like as good an option as any.
Will probably be too expensive, but as we keep getting told it's not our money then it is what it is.

Well he's done quite well for a bang average and brainless player. International and the best right back in the Premier League as voted by his fellow professionals. Contrarian opinions are only significant if you can explain yourself

Firstly, I don't think we should be paying the kind of fee that's being talked about, is it £50m ? especially to one of our main rivals ? Secondly, by bang average I mean exactly that, bang average ! His technique is poor, his decision making is poor and in my opinion he will be a poor signing at the kind of price we are talking about. He is not what I call an intelligent footballer. Being an England international is not really much of a confirmation of your ability in my opinion, as England are also 'bang average' and have been for 50 years ! If he comes, I hope I am wrong but I don't think he will suit our style of play and I think Pep would be making a mistake.

Not assertions, dear chap, a combination of evidence and opinion ( 1 out of 10 ! ). England have been bang average for 50 years we have not even reached the final of a major tournament in that time = evidence a plenty. For a so called major footballing nation that is a disgrace. Walker has been part of that set up for several years, hes done nowt and won nowt ( more evidence ! ). Not all necessarily down to him, of course, it is a team game, but he was shocking in the Euros last summer. Other evidence, I have watched him with my own eyes many times, he can't cross a ball and gives it away too easily and takes the wrong option. Hes scored 6 goals in 240 appearances, just one a season ! Poor for an attacking full back and none in 25 for England. More evidence ? I hope I am wrong if we do sign him and will wish him good luck !

On the flip side of that, he has been built to play the English game and is totally suited (domestically) for a pep team. I concur re:Europe, however, much like Spurs, he'll predominantly be used in the league, it's why we are in for Fabinho, who could realistically play 2 different roles in two different competitions...

Think Micah 2011/12, a machine that helped press back attacking threats through physicality!!!
