You're right, I bet the fucking lefties delve in to May's background to question her patriotism.....

I agree the media are shit houses.

Why do I think they haven't reduced net immigration? Probably because our economy requires it to be at the current levels and given our ageing population this will most likely continue to be the case.

Because they can't reduce it whilst within the EU for a start.

Or that one sided of the electorate don't like being blatantly lied to?

I'm sure those upstanding people at the event would have been just as tough on Abbot wouldn't they.

Yeah in the same way that the Nazis shows that all right wingers are anti-Semitic genocide merchants.

So you don't think that audience members that heckle a speaker are rude Damo? I'd be careful with such comments as well, Ken & Fumble will be agreeing with that without realising it's sarcasm if you're not careful.

I think they should be ejected from the building in a debate that's televised - again as with professional wrestling (which I will one day convince the forum is a microcosm of the world and a great artform), the audience is part of the whole performance. They have a specific job in the format and that is to sit there, ask questions, be rational and see if the answers swing them or not.

Heckling is an attempt to sway the TV audience; it creates new narratives for the viewer as people tend to accept/follow the reaction of a live crowd. The other day for example a Tory MP was talking about food banks and why people use them. He stated that people are using food banks not necessarily because they're in desperate poverty but because they are poor and have cash flow problems - 42% of referrals are related to delays or changes in benefits. This is correct by almost every piece of research encountered and the one he cited by the Trussell Trust agrees with this conclusion. However the live audience were instantly offended and started booing, hissing and heckling him. Due to them not understanding this issue and the correctness that MP now looks like he's stealing food from kids and it's become a national story.

That's irresponsible by the audience and by the TV producers. They've helped redefine the problem from a specific problem with benefit delays and depressed zero hour wages to a political point scoring exercise. That's harmful to people, the country, and our democracy.

By the same path the Sky News producers or presenter should have stepped in and told them to use their words like I tell my son. My main point to you though was that characterising the left because some people booed the sitting Prime Minister who is a controversial figure, as "the rude side" is a bit rich and you wouldn't like the same broad logic applied to the right.

I lost a lot of respect for Corbyn last night. I always thought well here is a guy who will not sacrifice his beliefs on the altar of popularity. Time and again he was not true to himself. I now rate him with the rest of the political rabble I can't stand. The say anything to get you in power brigade.
I am not by the way any sort of leftie, most of whom are hate filled troubled people who I feel sad for, but I thought I knew a good man when I saw one, sadly, I admit I was wrong.

To be fair he has grown a lot on me recently and that is mainly because if you put his stances aside he has been prepared to listen to people. His image has changed considerably over the last year and now he is starting to come across as a leader and not the hippyish protest movement head he has been. At least with his positions on things you can either agree with it or not. For me personally though there are too many things with Corbyn that bother me, his personal attitude to Trident, his unwillingness to deal with terrorists and a general pacifist attitude that does not fit into the requirements of a major NATO country in a dangerous world.

What worries me more though is not Corbyn being in charge but it is having the likes of Diane Abbot and John Mcdonnell in charge, the latter being a nasty piece of work who is on record as wanting bring down our economic system. These people would unfortunately bring this country to a total standstill if they ever got in because their views are not compatible with the modern world.

If it was on personalities alone I think Corbyn came across very well and I am always fully prepared to listen to him but unfortunately he is probably the only good one of a bad bunch. I don't have any time for the others as they are complete lunatics obsessed with a dangerous ideology as to how the state should be run.

Anyone just listened to Corbyn's, Abbott-esque, meltdown on Radio 4 this morning? He literally goes on his ipad and reads the labour manifesto to provide the figures for Labours new free childcare policy. Embarrassing stuff.

A very sensible reply to my post, thank you.

you wouldn't like the same broad logic applied to the right.
We are all selfish cunts, haven't you read the thread.

You make some good points though but I do feel anecdotally that it is always the left that heckle at such debates and on Question Time. They do always come across as very rude when they do so. I accept I may only be seeing it through the prism of my own perspective.

Because they can't reduce it whilst within the EU for a start.

My point is that most of our immigration comes from outside of the EU. Even though we're in control of that, it hasn't dropped and the reason is that we need it at the levels it currently is.

That's not true:

And look at the trend. Non-EU migration is on its way down and EU migration was going through the roof.

If you're gonna state things, then get it right mate and save me going and looking it up.

Man up? You grow up
You are claiming to be being bullied on a thread for grown ups because someone suggested you'd prefer a dictator. If that isn't sounding like a child then I don't know what is.

So man up or jog on. And that is coming from someone who is of the same political view as yourself.

Yep, he messed up there. Sure everyone will be all over it though, despite the fact that the vast majority of his policies are costed unlike you know who. It's a bit hyperbolic to say it was Abbot-esque though, at least he didn't just start plucking numbers out of thin air.

Can you please explain how I can "man up" ??

Thanks for the reason why the post was removed although while I accept the reason it's funny how people can't discuss properly the amount of people that have died and the reason they have died. Think I'll leave the thread for a few days and allow the bullies to get their way as usual.
At the end of the day there are people dying all over the world. The sooner people accept that every life is the same value then the quicker we will find a resolution
You're lucky it was just the post that was deleted and not your account.

You can stop crying that you are being bullied by a stranger online. They didn't exactly attack you did they. It was as mild as vanilla for this thread and forum.
Didn't cry just get your facts right, still don't know how I can man up, best leave, it's obvious we are at loggerheads, I promise I will not be so sensitive in future, how does that sound?
