You have every right to pay whatever for your kids. And more power to your elbow. My folks couldn't afford to so I had to pitch in.

Now imagine if the government tried to take 40% of whatever you wanted to give your kids for rent and living expenses and you'd be rightly pissed off.
They take 40% off me before I give it to anyone and I happily pay it. At least, I have up until now. I am struggling to see what I am paying for these days, as almost all the services I think I am paying for are steadily getting worse.

It is pretty simple though really, in what world do you tax a company more and add costs to them which results in them protecting their profits, paying their staff more and protects their ability to employ more people?

You could probably say well they would have to accept that they won't make as much profit, that shows they are anti-business policies I'm afraid.

The reason things will cost more is also simple, businesses will pass on any increased costs to the customer. There is no policy I have seen from Labour that will result in lower costs for businesses so it is reality not project fear.

The reason Labour have come up with these kind of things anyway is because they aren't interested in business given they have people like John Mcdonnell who want to bring down the capitalist system.

just your world and few others.

One thing I've noted about brass neck is that he never actually engages anyone with a different viewpoint to him. He reads something that he likes that someone else has said, copies and pastes it on here then disappears and studiously ignores anyone who dares to disagree with what he's posted.
Hhhhhhhmmmmmm. You may be right, you may be wrong. All I do know is...... Me and many other people on this good forum don't give two fuucks what you think about anyone on here. (As Many don't about my take on things). Your entitled to your frankly fairly bizarre opinions, you have the right to express them obviously but nobody gives a flying shit about it! Your critique on other people's style is not of interest to the debate and bordering on narcissism!

First paragraph of that article..

“Over the past two decades the country has undergone a transformation built on deregulation and budget self-restraint with cuts to Sweden’s welfare state,”
With an average income tax rate of 57% and a sales tax of 25%. 16 months parental leave and free day care, so parents can work. No doubt, similar policies here would bring about penury and all those clever wealth creators would all be off!

And guess what? They have now started on a programme of cutting welfare and reducing their deficit and it's now paying dividends according to that report. I bet they wish they could reduce the tax burden too but clearly they can't afford to at the moment.

I WANT a better NHS, so long as SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT
I WANT better school, so long as SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT
I WANT free school meals, so long as SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT
I WANT free universities, so long as SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT
I WANT more pay, so long as SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT
If you don't agree then you're selfish.

They've already done their programme and they are looking at slight welfare increases. Public opinion doesn't really want any more tax rises but, interestingly, they don't seem to want any tax cuts either. They are obviously trying to find the right balance and it's a shame that this country is so polarised and bound by ideology rather than trying to work out what a realistic offer from the government might look like.

40% before you receive it yeah. But imagine if they took a further 40% off anything you wanted to give your kids (a la IHT). You just happened to be alive whilst you gave them money at uni.

There isn't a Brexit crisis if you voted for Brexit, there's only a Brexit crisis if you want us to remain in the EU. I repeat, Brexit isn't a downside it's a process voted for by the majority of us.
