It's Quiet - a new dawn

I suspect it is. Benfica are confident that all of their responsibilities to third parties are complete. The FA's concern is that all of the paperwork is such that those third parties no longer have any claim to Ederson.
That will be tough as the boss of the third party ownership company and his agent (Mendes) are one in the same.

So who would ban us then if FIFA ratified the signing?

CAS would tell FIFA they have to ban us. CAS can't do it directly but no one's ever said no to CAS.

The issue which we'd presumably take them to court over is that how can we be liable if FIFA and the FA gave the green light and told us we were in compliance.

It's a very unlikely scenario, but with @tolmie's hairdoo talking about backhanders and conspiracies to hamstring us, the Garré case is the most obvious place to start.

Why don't we just give him back to his old club? No player is worth that amount of trouble.

Well apart from the fact we've done nothing wrong, we've also picked this kid up and moved him and his family half way around the world, let them settle in the country and given him a 3 year contract. I'd say we have an obligation to not just go "You know what, this is a ballache, fuck off back to Argentina mate".

Not to mention a transfer ban really hasn't been that big an obstacle to Barcelona or Real Madrid, in fact it's credited with turning this group of Madrid players into a team which has done so well. You get time to prepare, bring in players and then just play 2 seasons with the same squad, only returning loanees and youth players coming back in.

What will a transfer ban do to this forum for the affected windows? It's really really quiet thread maybe?

Prince William. I hope you curtsied

I didn't have my glasses on so he would have just seen this

Not if we have gone through FIFA & they have sanctioned the deal.

I imagine the outcome would be that either the player was taken away from us or some kind of financial compensation agreed if we want to keep him.
This is what Velez are after—they know we have money and they want some of it. They poach from within Argentina just as we poach around the world, they're only taking exception because they want to a very small piece of the very large pie and will fight till the end to get any additional money they can.

Most likely.

If the club has done nothing 'behind the backs' of FIFA & has done the transfer with their full knowledge, then it's impossible we could get a transfer ban.

The only way we could get a transfer ban, is if we've done stuff which contravenes FIFA rules, without their knowledge & they have incorrectly 'let us off' with it.

The story seems to be that FIFA knew what we were doing & allowed it. If that's true FIFA would also have to ban themselves from transfer activity if they banned us.

If we were to somehow sign Mbappe, we would have three of the world's best young players in our squad.

A front three consisting of Sane, Mbappe & Jesus would be absolutely phenomenal, and they could be our primary attacking options for years to come.

I'd go so far as to say having a three player rotation from Sane, Mbappe, Sterling, Jesus, Bernardo, and Diaz would be a 6-8 year dream team, especially given that nearly all of them can play positions outside of the front three.

(I'm not quite so fast to write Sterling off as others are on this forum.)
