It's Quiet - a new dawn

It's extremely unlikely as any blame would be attributed to FIFA, if there was any wrongdoing it was on their side.

I'm led to believe it has nothing to do with the signing him as you can sign players at 16 years old, but tapping him up when he was 15. That is the complaint, so it wouldn't be FIFA or the FA at fault with sanctioning the transfer.

Well they need proof of that

My daughter is cabin crew for ba at Heathrow she says there were signs for pep and city at arrivals. Must be doing summit down there today? As an aside she was in the lift with the Brighton and Hove Albion squad too!

There's a whole thread on this on the main forum.
Bottom line is, FIFA didn't find anything in their investigation OR in the subsequent appeal.
But this is the top court in sport so if they decided we tapped him up then there is nowhere to go.
That said the Argentinian club they are taking FIFA to court, not us.
Lets hope we have made sure they have informed us of any changes to the evidence and lets hope we are represented as an important party at the hearing.
As Gill is high up at FIFA I could expect anything to happen!

Most likely.

If the club has done nothing 'behind the backs' of FIFA & has done the transfer with their full knowledge, then it's impossible we could get a transfer ban.

The only way we could get a transfer ban, is if we've done stuff which contravenes FIFA rules, without their knowledge & they have incorrectly 'let us off' with it.

The story seems to be that FIFA knew what we were doing & allowed it. If that's true FIFA would also have to ban themselves from transfer activity if they banned us.

I believe the contention is that the transfer of 16 year olds with EU passports is only permissible between clubs within the EU or if the individual concerned is living in the EU. Velez are arguing that Garre was doing neither and that his parents flew to Germany the day before their sons 16th birthday before signing for City 2 days later. FIFA took our view that this was acceptable, however others may view it as sharp practice

What a great job,bet she's seen some famous faces in her time, and a few stories to tell also !!

Well I've always remained that if you don't get at least one transfer ban from a spurned club then are you really a big club?

we've finally made it lads

I can't see us buying Mbappe this summer. Unless one or two are unexpectedly being sold it won't happen.
The article I saw said that we were hoping to go for Mbappe next summer, but if Real or Barca (or someone else) is going to make a serious run for him, then Pep wants us to push as hard as possible to get him.

Indeed the minute I read about this I thought I bet he is involved somewhere! Might even have told the Argie club to appeal

CAS would tell FIFA they have to ban us. CAS can't do it directly but no one's ever said no to CAS.

The issue which we'd presumably take them to court over is that how can we be liable if FIFA and the FA gave the green light and told us we were in compliance.

It's a very unlikely scenario, but with @tolmie's hairdoo talking about backhanders and conspiracies to hamstring us, the Garré case is the most obvious place to start.

If FIFA are guilty then they'll be fined. I'm not sure they can pass any punishment down to us retrospectively if they approved the original transfer. More likely FIFA will be forced to update its rules and policies.
