City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

Where do you sit Tim? I am sure its in the posh seats which are never full?

The posh seats I sit in Frank are usually pretty full. I think the 93:20 blocks that PB refers to on the other side of the ground have more empties.

There are the odd empty seat where I am but people tend to stay to the final whistle. That certainly isn't the case in some parts of the ground. People have their own circumstances / priorities.

Judging by the empty seats at most matches, there are thousands of them.

Best solution would be to have black seats as opposed to the brightest in the league.

To be honest if one in 50 miss that is a 1000 empty seats. Dark seats would help though.

Like I said I think the big issue is the disparity between match day price and season ticket price and the fact we do not have 1000s of casual fans to pick up the slack.

Case in point will be the first home match of the season when we will struggle to sell out.

I will have to glance over next year. Pretty sure my friends in 223 state there are plenty of empty seats and plenty of moaning :-).

From my own experience leaving where you sit is a world of difference to leaving SSL3 so I cannot blame sat in there for leaving early.

Have you told him how you feel about him? Like I wrote in a previous post the cause is the disparity between match day prices and season ticket costs. I would not advocate rising season ticket prices but the club not charging 58 quid in an area of the ground they sell a season ticket for £300.
Yea I agree on pricing and hes a good mate and knows I don't think it's fair

The flip side of the £299 season ticket price is its a lifeline for fans who do a 400/500 mile round trip for home matches. It makes it just affordable when you chuck in travel costs etc

No system is perfect though.

I've been up in those seats. Fucking great atmosphere,.

Its arguably the best in the ground and full of top salt of the earth blues who have been going donkeys years. Thats my experience anyway not the type who give it a miss when the weather is bad or they cannot be arsed.

I cannot connect peoples perceptions of those in the £299 seats with those I see every week.

Absolutely bang on there. Down to earth people up in those seats. Some very flowery language. No holds barred stuff, and certainly for the old school footie fans.

But. They dont make it easy to buy one of match day tickets ..i wouldnt pay £50plus for a night game against most teams

Read my post again Frank. 223 is on the other side. I am in 209.

I completely agree. The disparity is the problem between the match day price and the season ticket price. Match day tickets are too high which puts off your casual supporter and acts as a disincentive to season ticket holders who do not always use their ticket.

It's the modern game. Better heeled less committed supporters and day trippers, who may find something better to do on the day.

Better solution would be to have a non tout exchange or sell on digital ticketing so someone can give you their ticket 30 mins before kick off

I had loads of grief before last season for suggesting that prices were 'too low' especially for the £299 seats.

Too low was perhaps the wrong phrase but I could imagine people not turning up for minor games as the cost can be absorbed or living miles away.

I think this has had an affect but isn't the only issue, I think kids/compy tickets are a larger factor.

The answer....maybe double points if the card is activated could help a little bit, a gauenteed refund from the club if you put it back on sale if it sells or not and easier access/transport which will get worse with the parking restrictions coming in.

May be the club should look at those rows of seats that get given to comps, or corps and move them to the back rows.
Remember when Rooney scored against us and he ran to the East Stand to be greeted by floods of Orientals with cameras! (IT'S ALMOST AS IF HE KNEW THEY WHERE THERE!).
PLANTED AMONGST OUR OWN FANS!

Let our own have the seats at the front, although saying that the tourists tend to stay till the end!

The Tunnel Club stops people walking around to the Singing Section. On the other side, the Club seem to have increased stewarding to make it more more difficult for extra people to go into 111 ( but I've only been 111 a few times for Champs League games).
