Completely agree, also think the keeper being able to save a shot or two would of helped the defence too.

I would all so back up what i think personally if that we get both Mendy and Walker the opposition will be to busy to even get near our center half's or goalkeeper :)

He never played in UCL and did not proove himself at this stages. If we want to compete likes one as Madrid or Bayern we must happy that he signed for Liverpool for 60. I am happy with Pep's transfer policies that he signes only English players from PL clubs, not sign Southampton players and ignores this EPL proven nonsense.

i'd assume a risk thing or he just prefers Liverpool(it happens) because he is certainly good enough.

Bonucci has never played in a back 2 in his life? and he is as mistake prone as they come as is.. A much bigger risk for similar money imo

Watched him in a 2 v Roma, didn't play particularly well, Juve conceded 3.

I was very skeptical on this from day one. We simply don't have another spot this year at CB.

We must be looking at different squads. I'm looking at one where, in the highly likely event that Kompany spends much of next season out injured, our current options are Stones, Otamendi and a 32 year old converted left back, and, er, that's it. And all 3 of those struggled repeatedly against long ball counterattacking last season. Better, quicker, stronger full backs will unquestionably improve our lot defensively, but for me it would be folly to go into next season without a physically dominant Kompany clone available to us. VVD was that player IMO, cos I can't see Bonnucci leaving Juventus

People who reckon we don't need a CB are kidding themselves

Kompany holds the defence together but is a massive risk due to injury issues

Stones and Otamendi only looked good besides Vinny

If not VVD then surely someone else

If Allegri renews maybe Bonucci might be available on the market

If we triple his money, his family are able to relocate with him and Juve get a 60 million fee for a 30 year old then this deal looks like it's got legs. Oh plus Pep thinks he's double mustard.

Sour grapes, mate?

I simply have never rated him.

He's no better than what we have IMO, and if you are having to pay £60m for that, then there is no sense to it.

People laughed when I said we should have signed Gary Cahill from Bolton when we had the option, and I still stand by that.

Stones is £50m and will be all the better for the last year.

I think Dijk would be a solid buy BUT....for me our fullback situation is one of the worse in the league and the biggest cause for our CB (back four) problems. Our CB's spent most of last season covering the space behind Zab, Clichy etc....almost doing the job of 2 people! If Txiki can sign Mendy/Walker our back four becomes our strength overnight!
