Most papers now going with it, even those that were quoting 5m the day before.Has it been confirmed as terminated or just speculation at this stage?

Saints have shut the door and he has a long contract,i don't think he will be going anywhere this summerHe'd be our best signing this summer, but I don't think we're interested now.
He certainly looks the real deal but let's not forget Michael Owen at 18.I haven't seen a player like him for years. It might be a bit of premature comment, but I'll be shocked if he hasn't won a few balloon doors in 10 years time.
I'd prefer VVD to Bonucci. As good as Bonucci is on the ball, VVD has that height, physicality and pace combination that very few center-halves have in the modern game. Also, assuming that we sign the quick fullbacks that we are linked with, we will be much less vulnerable to the counter-attack. The less technical teams like Stoke and United will try to keep the ball in the air, even more so than they do now. VVD would go a long way to cutting off that avenue.
I read earlier today that Chelsea are in for Sandro and Bonucci. If we want Bonucci then we have to move quick. What about the Laporte? Gone quiet on that front.
I prefer Bonucci. Everyone said how much we struggle when Vinny is out of the squad. If you look why it's not only because of what Vinny does in organizing defence, but he is our best ball playing CB. He helps initiate the build up play and can pick passes though the lines. He also is good at recycling the ball back to the keeper, pivot etc. Bonucci is one the best ball playing CB's around. He's also vastly experienced and what we need for now. If we go for VVD and he's not as good at build up play we'll be on the back foot and exposed more. I would wait a year and see if there is any young CB's worth taking. Seeing that we should be getting most of our targets this summer we will have less players we need to buy next summer.
Disadvantage of Bonucci over VVD is age and also time to settle. Quite a few players struggle at first in that position after a move.I prefer Bonucci. Clichy got there. He was really good for us. Won two titles with us and also won it at Arsenal. It looks like Alves is happening but I've more chance of playing next season that Iniesta but if Bonucci is on offer it's a no brainer. The thing these 3 have other than being the wrong side of 30 is the mentality needed to get to the very top. We've lacked that. A number of players have lacked it, managers have lacked it, even us fans have lacked it. These guys take us up several notches on that. Previous players like Milner, Clichy, Navas were nowhere near what it takes to get to the top year in, year out.
If we could only sign one player this season it would be Mbappe for me even though we have Jesus and Aguero. He is the best player I have seen in a long time. So young. Whoever gets him is set up for a long time.If we get Sanchez, I think we have to go for van Dijk and not Mbappe . Mbappe will be one of the best players in the world with no doubt but with Sanchez, Aguero, Jesus, Sane and Sterling we have enough class players in the attack . If van Dijk comes our defense will be monstrous, and any position, perhaps excepting a DM role, will simply be perfect. Next year we can go for Mbappe and A WC DM:)

I wonder how many players have won the league title with 2 different clubs
I would go for a centre back over and above full back cover.
Kompany outstanding. Stones has potential but seems to go to pieces on his own. Stones could be exceptional but I don't think he has the confidence yet to stride out of defence with the ball and take control. He can do that. Few can. Otamendi loves defending, but a bit reckless. The only defender I really trust is Vinny. If he gets injured like last season it could wreck us. We coped last season, and had other problems too, but we were still way off Chelsea. Not for me. I actually don't think that our center-halves are that bad, or at least not as bad as most people seem to think. They were exposed time and again by our fullbacks failing to get back into position and carry out their defensive duties. And even when they were in position, they were repeatedly beaten by the attacker. I'll stick my neck out and say that even if we do not sign a CB, we'll have one of the best defensive records next season.
From Tolmie:Only bonnuci on there that tolmie hasn't said is coming mate!
I agree. A new experienced CB is still a priority imo. VVD or Bonucci.Kompany outstanding. Stones has potential but seems to go to pieces on his own. After the CL final I reckon Juve will be looking to refresh their squad a bit. I definitely think we could get him if we wanted, but I reckon there will be other Premiership clubs who would like him tooFrom Tolmie:
'Pep has always wanted Bonucci, and he's stubborn enough to wait.'
If he's actually available, we could very well be interested in him
