Time for him to go, we are stepping up a level again next season. Liked him for sticking up for one of our Academy players in a pre season match, when the player was getting some stick, and Kolarov flew over and got in between. Wont miss his wild shots from miles out, at least one or two a game - cant remember many going in !!

Legendary status tends to be about what you give to the shirt. Not what you happen to win whilst in the shirt.
I am not a Kolarov hater and have defended him at times on these pages, but there was a reason why for our first trophy in the premiership era he was replaced by a make shift Left back for the final and then a replacement left back brought in for the following premiership winning season
If he goes he goes with my thanks and best wishes but no one will remember him accurately as one of the better players during our recent success.
Kolarov played in the final against Stoke

Exactly one tenth of what Chelsea would get for him were he to be sold by them.

One day Chelsea's dirty tricks will be revealed. That guy not turning up for a medical in St Petersburg the other day had Abramovich's dirty paws all over it. Our owners get a bad press but Roman and his inner circle have some serious blood on their hands that the UK media are happy to overlook.

Hi everyone,
I'm a Besiktas fan and i've just heard about on social media that kolarov is about to move istanbul.
We were chasing him last year this time, but then we decided to buy adriano correira from barca, even i wanted kolarov more.
But the news about him is little bit strange. Cos we already have adriano and turkish national team left back caner erkin.
And also pepe from r.madrid is quite close to us. So we have no need for cb.
And we are trying to cope with ffp that means buying a player is not allowed till we sell.
But, there are few things which it makes this transfer rumour come true.
Few chinese teams chases adriano, who played well last season. Even he isnt quite volunteer.
And as far as i read your comments, city may release him free.
Dusko tosic, who is serbian national and a good friend of kolarov, may a significant factor for him to come besiktas.
Thats all about kolarav from turkish side. Wish you and Bournemouth (where i live for a year) good luck for next season.
By the way, i need to say something about ederson. I watched him against us in cl matches, one of which was live in stadium, he is the gk who has strongest feet i have ever seen.
His goal kicks were like cross inside our penalty area.
It was unbelievable.
Even i m not sure of his gk skills, his feet are perfect.

Surprised he's going to be honest, showed a lot of fight & character, stuck up for his teammates and now multi-functional. I guess Alves will take his place in the dressing room.

If he thinks he isn't up to fighting for a starting place and leaves on that basis rather than milk what's left of his contract, he'll be leaving us with far more respect than Gael Clichy did.

Unless we are sure we're signing a left footed centre back this summer, there's no way Kolarov leaves in this window.

Multi functional? I like it. Good luck to the fella, but not sorry to see him go

He also started more league games than Clichy 13/14 champions season.
Which was his best season he had far fewer in 11/12. I am not particularly anti Kolarov and have defended him on previous occasions. Just pointing out that over the course of his time here he has been one of our less reliable performers. Left back has been pretty much consistently our weakest position since the take over (and probably for some time before it) We have been frequently exploited down the left.

Clichy might not have been great last season but I never heard any suggestion that he was just here to milk his contract. Somebody must have felt he was up to fighting for his place or he wouldn't have had nearly 40 appearances.

We had no choice but to play him once we realised we were stuck with him and Aleks for last year. If a bid came in we'd have bit their hands off, but no one was bidding for that player on that contract, and he was happy to stay for 12 more months for that very reason. Quality certainly didn't come into the conversation.

So Clichy decided to stay and honour his contract because nobody came in and offered him an alternative? Don't really see what he has done wrong there

We have been more than happy to let Hart Bony Nasri and previously lots of other very high earners out on loans. There is no way that we would have have not been prepared to do that if we felt that we could get a better left back in or that it was important.
I am not saying that Clichy was a great player but criticising him for not leaving when under contract is daft. We used Kolarov as a centre back most of the season if we had wanted another Left back we could easily have bought one and kept Clichy.

Think the criticism of the player is harsh, can hardly expect him to ask for a reduction in his pay. Surely the person who sanctioned the contract is at fault in this case , as well as those of several others we would like to see go.

He wasn't capable of performing at a level comparitive to that contract.

I said it mid season when he was costing us points for fun, as much as I despise rat face, at least he was man enough to realise when he was hurting the rags and retired on the spot. Clichy was happy to turn up every week and have a shocker. If Aleks walks, it's an admission by him that he isn't up to the level required and he's happy to play somewhere he will be good enough...it's an admirable stance if that's the case as we win as does he. I wouldn't be surprised to see the club allow him to leave for free as a gesture of goodwill for that reason.
