Not true. We are well aware Walker is a better player but they aren't too fussed as Trippier is a decent backup.

I said it before if we had to lose a player from our first eleven then Walker or Diers name would enter my mind.

If we lost an Eriksen, Toby, Jan, Kane, Lloris or an Alli type player that would hurt us a whole lot more
I would love it if you lost them all, a truly horrible fucking snide club, have been since the 1970's

That seems a bit harsh towards a decent poster.

I've still got plenty of hurt from 81 but could you enlighten me why they are a "truly horrible snide club", "since the 1970s".

Born and bred in Manchester but lived in London in the 1980's, and had more shit at white hart lane than any other ground in London (including the 2 dens), more snide comments, more glory hunting, far less likeable as a place to have a decent time than Highbury ever was. Can't ever remember having a good booze and banter with a group of Spurs fans, maybe you have had different experiences?

I should point out though that my comments were about Spurs as a club, not about that specific poster, and if the average Spurs fan that I had encountered over the decades were like him then I would have a different view, but they haven't.

Top 4 horrible clubs in my lifetime have been scum, spurs, boro and milwall, based on general encounters and behaviour

So a few Spurs fans said nasty things to you in the 80's. Haha. What a sensitive soul.

How does that account for the decade before when you also say they are a "snide" club.

Yeh but apart from that...

Several of us think the same as @BringBackSwales

His post justified his view of them. It pretty much reflects my experience. Post and pre game, fans of the other London clubs are sound.

My view of them is based on visiting WHL many times, living among them and going to Spurs games with the missus, including European games.

Spot on, although Crouchino seems like a decent bloke. WHL has always been a horrible away trip

Out of all the 'big' clubs, the atmosphere at WHL, man for man, is the best in the Premier League. I don't find their fans as objectionable as some others and I think they are a club definitely on the up, partly because they are well run from the top down. It's funny watching people on here criticise Levy for doing his job properly and try get the most for Walker - although I would say that his skills as a negotiator are overrated in some quarters.

1981 was hard for any City fan to take, but it doesn't cloud my view of Spurs and their supporters 36 years later. I think Arsenal fans are far worse, personally.

You mis-typed LEEDS.

Spurs can be bad but no worse than West Ham or Chelsea IMO, had plenty of grief at both places in the 70s and 80s.

yes and how many times has Wenger told us over the years that Arsenal struggled to compete for so long because they had to carry the cost of the Emirates build.

On their web-site they say they have a 5 year credit facility for £400m at Libor plus 3%. There are lots of different Libor rates. perhaps it is one connected with 5 year borrowing but I don't know what exactly that is but I think it is a floating rate that changes with the market. Strikes me as a very good time to borrow money as interest rates are so low. let's hope they don't go up!!

I am sure that it's all perfectly in order and well under control, but just illustrates that Spurs are now under financial pressure.

How the fuck does that happen?
Apparently due in part to collapse of Sterling which meant that the cost of raw materials went up. That of course could reverse. However I think since the cost overshoot was announced, Sterling has fallen much further so the overshoot could be much worse than has been disclosed.

remember Wembley. Millenium Dome. major projects like these are renowned for budget overshoots.

You would have thought that if a builder is contracted to build the stadium, they carry the cost. That's what I would do to mitigate risk. Tbh I don't really know what I am talking about here so I will stop here, but just shows that Spurs are under financial pressure. They'll claim they have the financial resources in place to deal with that, and it doesn't impact on their transfer activity, but it is very noticeable just how quiet Spurs have been in the transfer mkt
