This transfer is a wierd one. Bale is a class player, but just got this niggling feeling that we shouldn't go for him.
 
There is definitely a rumour flying round in Wales that he's coming here.

If so I wouldn't hate the transfer. I mean he's world class when he's actually healthy. The issue is he's hurt wayyyy to much and his salary is insane. If he drops his wages down for us though I wouldn't mind.
 
Top player. With him or Sanchez I'd feel very confident Bout this season.

Would I be worried if he went to our rivals? Yes I would.

Yeah, fantastic player but he's only just turned 28 to be fair so age is definitely on his side. Agree on the injury issue though - I've just looked up his stats and in his whole career he's made less than 300 club appearances which is astonishing, especially as 40 of those were for Saints as a 16 and 17 year old.

Speaking of which, does anyone remember him playing for Southampton against us in the FA Cup way back in January 2007? There was a lot of hype surrounding him at the time and I was worried he'd do some damage but the game - which we won 3-1 IIRC - pretty much passed him by.
 
maybe if Madrid are looking to offload him then we could get him with the sanchez money if alexis isn't coming?
 
He's a world class player who would improve virtually any team, but I can't really see him at City. If Madrid were to sell then United seems a more likely destination. Have we even been linked with him, other than the Betfred story in Wales?!
 
Have we done the legwork necessary to launch a successful bid for Bale? It doesn't seem that we've been pursuing him, Mbappe has clearly been our prime target.
 
It's a strange one. Something telling me I don't want him here. Age, injuries, cost, but I would be a little concerned if that lot got him.

Hopefully he stays put.
 
Sane has shown much more at 20 than Bale ever did

If we are in for him it smacks as a panic buy because we didn't get our first two targets

I would prefer to keep what we have got and blood foden and Diaz

Hated when he turned up against us with Spurs. Always knew we'd have trouble, think that's the kinda player he is. Wins matches by himself (when he's fit) a lot of his Madrid goals are headers too.

maybe we have been told that alexis is a definite no no and we have moved on? possibly knowing that mbappe wants Madrid so we have done a deal regarding bale? can`t shake that image when bale was holding a NYCFC shirt and thinking I wonder if we could sign him for us first with the promise of a career ending big money pay day in new York as well?
