I compared their purchase mainly. Bony was a waste of money when near everyone thought it was a sensible buy. Buying an 18yr old with 40 games under his belt at a time when prices are stupid... is stuppid. And we wont do it, I have confidence in our owners that the money would be better spent than risked.Comparing potentially the greatest striker in the past two decades to Wilfred f**king Bony is a new standard....
Apparently they're not happy, and are calling on all their fans to join together in protest.
They've booked 12 seats at the local Indian to stage the protest, in the hopes they all show up.
To echo what some have said on here, the sums being talked about are plain stupid. Simply because Monaco say they want €180m or whatever the number is, does not mean he's worth €180m. He's worth whatever clubs are prepared to pay.
We paid how much for Jesus? £30m? A player who aged 19 scored 21 goals for Palmerias to win them the league, and who plays as a striker for Brasil. And we are being asked to believe MBarmé is worth 4 or 5 times that amount? Ridiculous.
Is 180 mill Euro's 'crazy money' ? The market was crazy 5 years ago, maybe even 10 years ago or when in England mainly United and Chelsea were paying vast amounts of money for players, and like Real and Barcelona have done for decades.
Btw, are we even in a position to talk about 'crazy money' with City overpaying for several players over the recent years? And at what point is it actually 'crazy money' ?
I still stand by my point of view the worth of what has been paid is to be decided at the moment the player leaves the club. Nobody can tell his worth in a few years time. It's simply an investment with hopefully a better outcome for the investor. And from that point of view I wouldn't mind if City paid that kind of money for Mbappe. I would enjoy us getting the player the manager wants and proves the owners it was the right choice as in a good investment.

Isn't every purchase a risk then? Mendy had the same good season as Mbappe, he could fail this season and we just spent 50m on the guy. We could go buy Sanchez for 50m for him to be injured for the season. With Mbappe you are paying for what he could become, obviously a risk but could turn into a risk worth taking if it takes us to the top. Its the same with every high class young player, Dembele for example, over 100m. Barca are willing to pay that because they know in the current market and what he could become its worth it.
You either pay up the prices or miss the boat. Mbappe scored like 6 in 6 in the CL last season him and B SIlva tore us apart. Never a guarantee in football but i'm sure scouts and managers know genuine talent when they see it, hence why PSG Madrid Barca City whoever are all wanting him. Hardly like we are competing with Palace or Stoke to sign him.
Like Bayern you mean?We need to compete at the very top end of the market if we are truly to be one of the big boys.
I thought Taggart is the one who shits himself.Pep doesn't shit himself. He leaves that to the Portuguese eye gouger
Well this might be a boat worth missing. Prices are totally out of control indicative of a classic economic bubble. It seems that the burst which is inevitable will be speeded up as the intensity of the spiral is increasing much faster than anyone could have predicted.Simply put players bought now for 200 million will only be worth half that amount in a couple of years. With respect to Mbappe it really is incredible that people rate him so highly on the basis of a handful of excellent performances. People in classic bubble territory really are starting to lose the run of themselves.
or 1.5 Lukakus. No point trying to work out what is value in this market. To echo what some have said on here, the sums being talked about are plain stupid. Patrick Roberts likes this post. Not sure how anyone who wants a competitive career would go to PSG? A completely one horse race, with the only challenging games being a few in the CL
Like Bayern you mean?
