They have gone balls deep this year...maybe even deeper (if that's possible). They are trying to build a dynasty here, but their league can't support 1 galactico side. It doesn't have a 'nemesis' team. If psg don't have an arch enemy they literally have nothing.
That's the only thing I am thankful for Utd...they are the comedy villian/hero to our heroes/villains (depending on your outlook).
Psg not only have to dominate their league....they now have to dominate the champions league to stay relevant.
It's a big ask.

Whether people like what I am saying or not here, I honestly couldn't give a shit...

Looking at PSG and Manchester City before this window, teams such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid probably didn't take us seriously, especially competing in the champions league. Looking at last season PSG lost the league to a side assembled on a pretty small budget and lost in that thrilling game v Barca in the dying seconds. Especially that night in Barcelona was the turning point for their owner. He must have been thinking to himself that for all the money spent, I am not reaping the benefits from it in terms of properly competing on the champions league stage. PSG have only ever been to the quarter finals and for a team with their financial power, it isn't good enough. The owner has gone about his business in a ruthless fashion this window with the main objective in mind to win the champions league at all costs. He has completely shook the footballing world by paying Neymars buyout clause and taking him from arguably the most glamorous football powerhouse in the game. He has humiliated them and shown the footballing world just how powerful his money can be. Now he is getting the next biggest french talent who looks destined to be a star from the clutches of the other big superpower, Real Madrid. The statement of intent shown here has been utterly mindblowing.

As for City, I think our business has been superb this summer, but I just feel we could have gone the extra mile for Mbappe to set the same intent as PSG did with Neymar. In the nine years or so the Sheikhs have been here, we have not really come close to champions league silverware, we haven't really challenged much given the amount we have spent. We haven't won a premier league for 3 seasons and for a club like us that are going places, it is dissatisfying. I do think with Pep though, we are entering a new era and we are building a very good side for the future, but I still think our board should push the boat out and go that extra mile to give pep what his squad needs.

The best thing for PSG was the huge wake up call they received last season from losing the league and dropping out of the champions league in extraordinary fashion, but they have certainly come out all guns blazing with the shackles off this summer.

All of a sudden £60 million doesn't seem so much does it, just shows how strange this window has been.
Makes you wonder how we jumped in quickly and got B Silva so cheap early on yet other targets are taking time now the PL inflated pricing comes into effect. I'm also wondering if this is what City want...the way to kill off an opponent effectivily is bankrupt them. Obviously they won't but it will stop them engaging in the higher profile players....Scum, Madrid, Barca don't seem too keen apart from online rumours. Just a thought....

What does that mean?

Thats due to us being absolutely horrendous in transfer marker the past few years as the likes of Bony, Delph, Fernando, Nolito, Mangala etc were never gonna take us to that next level. Pretty shocking last season to think how much the club had spent yet our starting 11 at times consisted of Navas, Bravo, Kolarov, Nolito, Clichy, and an ageing Zaba, its not a surprise we weren't challenging. Thankfully it seems Peps has assessed the squad cut the deadwood out and brought in maybe not superstars but players who will certainly improve us. I think its a big risk signing an 18 years whose had one good season for 180 million. And I also struggle to see how he fits in as at that price he has to starting every game.

These PSG signings just strike me as qatar showing how big their dick is and wanting PSG to become the new Real Madrid.

I don't think City can really be criticised this window for not being aggressive enough in the transfer market.

For some reason PSG have decided to ignore FFP. perhaps he answer is not football related. Only way we can compete with them is to ignore FFP as well, and I don't want City to do that. We can win the Champions League this season. If we don't this season, we will soon.

agenda!

City have spent 200 million this summer
spending 200mil on 4 players with 4 different wages whilst releasing a high amount of high earners is completely different to releasing no one of note and spending over 300mil on two players.

but maybe simple information like this goes over your head?

They won't compete if we have offered
You mean we raise the fees so high that other clubs can't compete? Utd hold all the records for transfers. Liverpool been making very big offers. As have barcelona. We can't compete with Real Madrid's financial power either

City are now going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to better the signing of Mbappe.

I am not so sure, PSG with Mbappe and Neymar have a better chance of winning it than we do. They have top quality all over the park.

No I just don't have a tin foil hat thinking the whole world is against city.

When you consider player amortisation Mbappe and Neymar will probably cost PSG an extra 120-140 million a year. Probably recoup that with some players being sold and a dodgy sponsorship.

Okay mate, the established elite isn't against city, everything just happens suddenly because of a series of weird coincidences. Sure, you're absolutely right

;-)

City have spent £200 on players, but net spend is £140m. PSG spending would be around £350m if they buy Mbappe.

Exactly...Scum have to pay big two seasons on the trot and tbh average to good players?...You inflate it again as is happening.....

But they are against PSG too...which is what PSG's desire to give them a stick to beat them with is so confusing.

It's either politics or they have a legal challenge in mind.

I can see that Marv but I feel it remains to be seen.

At the end of it I'm just glad new blood has told them to shove it up the arse. Shame though as I was getting excited about this one!

But they can afford it. You're saying there is a strategy behind raising transfer values but I think that suits Utd more than anyone as they are the richest club. Our owners are wealthier but they cannot deploy it all in the transfer market. Utd can because their revenues are higher.

aguero and sanchez is better than an 18 year old mbappe and neymar. aguero and sanchez both at the prime of the career is seriously intimidating. add jesus/sane/sterling beside them... we have top quality all over the park. they're spending 350 mil on two players. I'd rather be in our situation tbh.

Me too. Not quite given up hope yet but it's taken a distinct turn for the worst

Who's to say we can't spend much more if we desire? As for PSG, they'll almost certainly sell a few players, for big money too, if they brought in Mbappe as well as Neymar the window doesn't close for another 3 weeks.
