You`ve answered your own narrative there. Why do we need to be in a paper every day.And before you say "well the Rags are", I personally couldn`t give two fucks about them.
Whats the point of a newspaper if there isnt news about the subjects that interest you?

The answer is getting pretty close to none, which as a one time avid reader of the news is a great shame.

I'll ignore your United strawman.

And so you should if it worries you that much.Too many fuddies duddies in life nowadays.About time people manned up and let the world not evolve around one theme ... football. ;)

I think you have mis-read what i actually put pal. I never said we should be worried about the money our owner has brought, why would we as City fans worry about such a thing ??? The stigma attached to what our owners has brought is from other fans/pundits up and down the counrty which is what my post alluded to, not in any way directed to our own fans

Apologies my friend however my post in itself was not directed at you particularly, simply a message to all City fans to take all reference to oil billions as a compliment and be proud of our financial state of affairs and ask those who criticise our spending why their club does not have the same debt free profitability.
Same for the media, is their paper or TV station at the same level of profitability as City and if not why not.

I was listening to 5 dead last Friday on my way to the podiatrist, and the female presenter, whilst talking about the booing of Gatland, said words to the effect of " and we all know how public opinion is influenced by what they read in the media"!

No further comment needed really.

This ties in nicely with the final line of the preceding post.

Absolutely this this and only this. Fucking Rags, Dippers and Arse lickers in work essentially repeat every bullshit story they read in the gutter press or hear via impartial and unbiased broadcast media. It's not difficult for our enemies to sow the seeds of bitterness and hatred towards our Club.

Geez. Thats quite a stretch you've made. Wanting a better, more balanced, more insightful media coverage of your football club does not equate to being worried, being a fuddy duddy, being unable to man up or having a life that revolves around football.

I don't think it's too much to aspire to, unfortunate that so many would prefer we just "man up" and accept a sub standard media.

The less you care, the less they will matter and the more likely the chance you will get to speak to said journalist over the phone, when their asking if you have had your PPI claims checked.

And the less chance we have of reading/watching/hearing insightful stories about the club/sport/games.

Theres a place for the media in football. Good media can enhance my enjoyment of the club and sport. Just getting harder and harder to find.

I'm still trying to work out which match the sun journalist was watching to describe it as an unimpressive win with an uninspiring keeper and Chris Houghton should feel aggrieved that Brighton didn't get something from the game.

Just look it up on the OS.It doesn`t cause you any stress whatsoever.
I find the OS significantly more stressful than any negative media coverage on us.

But you're making strawman arguments again. I don't find poor journalism stressful, I like talking about it. And I get to know what certain journos/publications are all about.

So it does bother you ?

Lots of things "bother" me but don't keep me awake at night. You seem "bothered" that people would be bothered by the negative media attention we get. Maybe you would be less worried if you kept off this thread. In answer to your inference, to the extent that the view of our club is moulded by the media, yes it bothers me, a bit.

None of the negative media coverage keeps me awake at night however it does damage our reputation as a club and that makes it harder for us to compete commercially with our rivals. It makes it harder for us to attract new fans and sponsorship revenues and that makes it harder for us to compete on the pitch with the giants of the game like Barca and Real Madrid. Organisations invest a lot of time and money in growing their operations and we can't afford to ignore the sort of unbalanced coverage we get. The more we as fans call it out the better.

You only have to look on this thread to see the wet knicker brigade.I agree that there are certain things that are said and reported that are not complimentary but by the same token people just feel the urge to go and seek out other pointless articles where there is literally nothing to be seen. However this thread has proved my point ... people do get upset at the slightest mention of anything that is not positive.
I just think these people need to get a life, instead of worrying (and thats what they do) who said what, why, but, and, however,no mention, why us,blah blah blah. ;)
