Jonny Evans

One or two have proved useful signings over the years, Kiddo and that bloke with the fluky backheel spring to mind.

Yeah I think back in the days when players were local and virtually every signing was home based and we didn't have the media and razzmatazz we have in the game now and for the last 25 years, it may have been more acceptable. I'm sure he is a reasonable player and we need a CB but it wouldn't be for me personally.

Absolutely do not want him here and I think it would be a huge mistake to sign him. 'In Pep we trust' doesn't apply on this one for me.

Morgan had a good season their title win. Didn't have a good season the one after and he's been replaced in the pecking order now. Zouma played like 9 games for Chelsea their title win and is now on loan at Stoke of all places. So currently no those players are not good enough to win titles. If you think you're making a good case for Evans you are badly mistaken.
If he wanted to make that point he could have just pointed out that Evans himself has won the Premier League... 3 times.

But as we all know honours are not a sure-fire sign of quality.
Kleberson has more World Cup medals than Messi
Harry Kewell has more Champions League medals than David Silva
and Luke Chadwick has more Premier League medals than Steven Gerrard

Gonna go against everyone. I think Evans is a cracking player. Comfortable on the ball and two good feet. Would suit Peps style well. And he wouldnt be the first rag to cross to the blue side. His injury record would be my major concern. But he'd be an excellent squad player tho not first choice obviously.

i suppose Tevez worked out ok

I know a friend of his and Evans loves United still, I'll be fucking fuming if we sign this rag reject. Not good enough for them, he is soft as shite and panics under pressure, why the fuck are we even contemplating it, would Barca, PSG or Madrid being the hunt for him, would they fuck and they are our competition now

I agree, said it earlier in the thread.

This thread, as if it were needed, is definitive proof that we have some utter, utter bellends supporting us.

Is Evans great? Nope.

Is he an experienced defender who has won 3 titles and a champions league? Yep.

Happy to be 4th choice? Probably, yep.

Homegrown? Yep.

Available for about £20 million? More than likely.

Alternatives that tick the above boxes? Nope.

We won the title in 2014 with Demichelis and 2012 with Lescott for fuck's sake! This isn't a knock on either of those two (I actually really liked Lescott) but Evans is a miles better defender than Demichelis and a much better footballer than Lescott and I doubt he'll play anywhere near the number of games that those two did.

Those people pissing and moaning about Denayer and Tosin are talking shite. Denayer was fucking awful at Sunderland (I'm sure
Kneville Neville will be along soon to tell me that it's the club's fault that he was shite) and Tosin is miles away from being able to play first team football. He needs to go out on loan.

Anyone lamenting Mangala not getting a chance can also fuck right off. You were probably the same ****s giving him dogs abuse week in week out in 14/15.

Not everyone. But seemingly most. Im certainly biased as ive watched Evans close up playing for our national team. And he's a class act. Tho sadly injury prone and maybe too much of a risk with VK's troubles.
And your national team knows how to defend. Some of the stuff on here makes you hate football.
