Of course I can't guarantee his fitness but I can judge how he's come through the last few months and believe the worse is over for him.

People shouldn't put much stock into who he previously played for. It's not important.

That's all well and good when speaking for yourself, you are perfectly entitled to voice your opinion on his qualities as a player and I wouldn't even say you're wrong for calling him average. However, his previous club clearly makes a huge difference to many on here as they're being mentioned on every page.
