He fits the bill perfectly, is apparently an absolute top professional, a diamond to work with and if three of the most successful managers of recent times rate him then who am I to argue? Why are you naming Ramos and Varane? Their back ups are Vallejo, a 20 year old who has never played a game for them, and Nacho, a 27 year old with 81 league appearances for them in 8 years.

There comes a time when we have to walk away if WBA keep rejecting our offers. I actually don't mind the idea of Evans coming in. Ex-rag or not he would be a sensible option to cover Kompany if he gets injured, but only at the right price. However the only other option that fits with homegrown and experienced tags is Ryan Shawcross. And that's a no from me.

Well transfermarkt value Naco as more than double Evans. I guess Real Madrid are kicking themselves missing out though ;-)

If Barca RM or Bayern had gone for a WBA player would you not think it strange? Why is it different for us giving our ambitions.

I agree that he fits the bill in terms of being experienced, home grown and left footed at a 'relatively' low price, however when you get a 6 match suspension for spitting at an opponent, you can hardly be described as 'an absolute top professional'.

I do not have ideological problems with signing Evans, but surely the price we would be willing to pay can't go very much higher. He is an all right player, but 25 million or more is squeezing it a bit
