The market is inflated & we are paying prob over double what he is worth.
I think there are better defenders for the £ in Europe that have more talent. I have tbh I have my doubts..
BUT he fills a home quota, has alot of experience especially in the Prem & we lack leaders at the back. There is only Kompany who fills that role if he gets injured we can forget about winning the league.
We have to trust the manager its his job on the line not ours. Pep is clearly thinking he is a leader & we can maybe rest Komps too in certain games to prevent injuries/burnout. Also the left cb role in the back 3 could be a weak link with either Mangala or Nico there. Pep maybe thinks he will give us balance? Let's see how it pans out before we condemn the signing. Who gives a fuck what Rags say anyway?! They r gobshites whatever happens always have been in my 30 years watching City & always will be!
Ultimately Pep knows more about footy than me, you or dare I say anyone on this or any footy forum let's trust the bloke
Okay maybe Pep knows everything
But why was this left to the last minute ? allowing us to get raped by fucking Pulis

Good management ?

What happened with the "WBA wont fuck us over the price and we go for Ben Gibson as a cheaper option"?

Now WBA is fucking us over with the price if we pay anything above 20m for him. The sad thing is next summer we wont even get 7m for him or we will just loan him, you know dry loan, with us paying his salary.

Seems like the Ben Gibson news was just to scare WBA so they dont ask 40m for this superhero CB but only 30m, LOL.

And our biggest problem is finishing chances and one serious injury to one of our 2 strikers can cost us the season.Scouts should be slapping Txiki in the face with the scouting report folders of the Alexis alternatives...

But no, we are spending time and look like big money on the Evans deal.

Surely our world class coaches could make Mangala a better option than JFE
He has the physique, the strength and we paid 40 mill for him so he must have a modicum of talent
Why pay another 30 mill for a reject, who's real worth is what WBA paid, about 6 mill
Has Mangers upset somebody?
Pep's the man of the moment. Txixi executes what Pep wants, once Khaldoon has okayed it, presumably in accordance with the Sheiks strategy, who happens to be paying for it all.
If that lot aren't too bothered about losing it on Mangala and spending it on Evans, I can't for the life of me understand why we seem to have our knickers in a twist about it. They'll try them out and if they don't work they'll get rid and spend more of the cash they'll make again this season. That's how it works and not just for our club, this is more or less what happens at every top club.

He should know more than us he's been a pro and is now a manager. I'd expect him to know a fair bit in fact. He has experience we will never have. BUT he isn't infallible and he's proven that last year not just with his signings- bravo, nolito, - but with his decisions and tactics Monaco away for one. And he is just like any other manager ultimately and will be judged on what he wins. At city he has had no success and therefore he can be questioned especially about a signing like Evans. If you don't agree then you are giving him a free ride because he is pep and that can't be right can it? This isn't a pep out post it's a don't buy Jonny Evans post. He's an average has been who ain't worth 30mil in this or any other market.

Im not sure he's a saint
He's spent circa half a billion on an already mega expensive team and we still cant beat Everton at home

Except they can't get rid of the dross easily can they and the squad ain't limitless. Plus I honestly don't think they want to operate the way you described.

No one knows everything m8.
Who knows?! Your guess is as good as mine
Maybe he wanted another look at Mangala or we missed out on other targets...
Pep does not negotiate anyway so its hardly his fault, my understanding is Pep gives a list to Txixi & then its up to him & his staff to sort it. Maybe Evans was below other CB that we could not sign over the summer?
If it was up to me I would give Mangala a chance & spend the £ on a DMF but clearly its not. I can also see some twisted logic in the signing ;)

In all honesty, no one wants to operate this way but that's the reality of it. Player recruitment and selection isn't a science, I don't even know if you can call it an art. It's a judgement call at a point in time dependent on what player is available at what price. Clubs have to do their due diligence but ultimately every signing is a gamble. No one knows how any player is going to turn out until he's wearing your shirt.
If we were to look objectively at any top club you would find players bought, tried, judged not good enough and moved on. Just look at one of the most successful managers of the Prem era, Ferguson, how many duds did he buy in his time? Loads. But no one batted an eyelid because ultimately it didn't matter. He delivered success on the pitch which paid for everything, mistakes and all.
I don't want to insult anyone here but City as a club has moved on to bigger things, the fans need to move on with them.

We have votes regularly for man of the match etc. Would be interesting to have one for should we sign Evans. Other options maybe use money towards bid for VVD or maybe Mangala/Denayer/A N Other?

VVD is off the table, infact I dont think he has ever been in Pep's plans. The links between us and him was just lazy journalism. Mangala doesn't have the technical ability to play in a Pep team unfortunately and Denayer seems to have regressed massively since his breakthrough at Celtic (Partly the clubs fault as well as his) and his attitude has been questioned more than once so he doesn't have a spot in the team.

I like Evans, a solid performer and seems a very quiet and down to earth lad but he is an extra voice on the pitch to lead. He has plenty of experience of the league so it is easy to see why Pep is buying him. 30mil is the new 10mil so i couldn't care less what the fee is.

Plans can change. I would be very surprised if Evans was in Pep's plans at the start of the window. Getting VVD would weaken Liverpool/Chelsea if Southampton are selling, it seems money better spent than Evans.
Edit: (As regards quite down to earth lad, he's been in trouble for spitting, 6 match ban, and rumours of other indiscretions)

The link shows a United fan making a comment that they hoped he would get a "lifetime ban" so he wouldn't have to play for United again.

Pep has completely lost it. 30 million for Jonny fucking Evans. He is already feeling the pressure this season i guess.
Why is him wanting another center back a sign of him feeling the pressure? He wants to play 3 center backs and we've got 3 senior center backs, none of which are left footed.
