Eh? The Rags are in for him now?

There's no links but I was checking Twitter earlier when the reports of a transfer request came out and there were loads of them tweeting stuff like "get it done mourinho" and "sign him up". They've probably got themselves excited that nobody turns down the mighty United and think he's theirs now.

Hopefully you're right. I think the Arsenal fans would accept it if they used to money to buy someone like Lemar or Draxler. Don't think they'd tolerate selling Sanchez and banking the money though.

I just don't understand why we haven't really pushed for this. It's all well and good City agreeing terms with the player but we're a few days from the window closing and yet we haven't even put in a bid.

we're saving money to trigger messi's release on deadline day.

Sanchez agent told Chilean press we'd had a 45m bid rejected a few weeks ago. Could be we're sorting it all out behind the scenes. Chelsea had a bid for oxlade accepted today with no previous bids seemingly going in.

If City was signing Sanchez, something would have happened by now. Does anyone know if we have actually made a bid for him yet? Nothing concrete on BBC or Skysports. He hasn't handed in a transfer request either.

Something's happening on this one you can feel it.

For me he is in his peak so won't want to waste a season.

Transfer fees are insane meaning letting him go on a free makes little business sense!

The time to bid is now, we need to bid enough to not only tempt Arsenal, but so Alexis can put pressure on them that they have got a fair fee he wants to leave and would not be happy if they stood in his way!

If we get him we have played a blinder!!

How do you know that mate? (and yes, I have seen the tweet from Jack Pitt Brooke)

It's a seller's market more than ever now and they know we'll pay their asking price so long as it isn't absurd. If their fans are mad now, how mad are they going to be next summer when they knew we were interested and willing to pay what they quoted him as? Arsenal can say that they figured they could convince him to extend his contract, but then the fans are going to look back and say "For what reasons would he have wanted to stay?". Their club is between a rock and a hard place and have no easy decisions to make. The easier decision to save face and somehow try to rebuild starts with selling Sanchez. If the fans get all upset that they sold to a direct rival, sure they can trash Sanchez's attitude and try to save face with the fans. They know full well that even with Sanchez, they'll be lucky to qualify for Champions League, given how they've started and how Everton are starting to put the pieces together.

The worry is that they're in such a mess now that selling Sanchez could be the final straw for fans and they'll have a full-on mutiny on their hands. It could strengthen their resolve not to let him leave, regardless of the cost.
I do hope you're wrong Ric, but when I suggested to Robbiegunn, a few days back, that Arsenal's board would drag out the deal until the last minute of the last day of the window, in order to have an excuse not to reinvest any of the fee, he reckoned that, if that happened, it would actually lead to serious violence on their terraces between pro & antì Wenger sections of the Arsenal fans
