Alexis Sanchez

If I were Pep I'd be fuming at Txiki.

Pissed about with Alves and we got shown up, now pissed about leaving it last minute for Alexis. . . Fuck's sake.
It has been common knowledge that we wanted him all summer and Arse have only come to the table this week after play acting all window that he won't be sold. They should have scouted and had contingency plans in place in case they did decide to sell him. Arse trying to push their incompetance on to city here.

I really do find it difficult to believe how Arsenal are going to get anything out of Sanchez this season. If he's an Arsenal player tomorrow he'll be sorting out his move asap and will give the bare minimum. Would be a stupid move for them to keep him but that is a possibility if we believe these journalists.

It's complete bollocks to think that Arsenal have ran out of time to sign Lemar. That simply wouldn't happen.

He's been their number one target all summer and money won't be an issue when you consider how much they've spent. They wouldn't even have put a bid in for him unless his agent has given the green light.

It stinks of Arsenal not wanting to spend that sort of money rather than not having the time to.

Very successful window for City

Manchester City

Ric Turner, from Manchester City fan website Blue Moon:

Regardless of whether or not the club manage to secure a deal for Alexis Sanchez before the Thursday deadline, it has been a very successful window for City.

Two of the main problem areas in the squad, goalkeeper and full-back, have been addressed by the signings of Ederson, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, and Danilo.

Securing the services of the mercurial Bernardo Silva for £43m looked a bargain at the time, and even more so in the light of recent deals.

There is still a slight imbalance to the squad, but it is looking in much better shape than last season. There has been a significant upgrade in quality, with much "dead wood" being moved on, and the average age has come down considerably.

This was always likely to be an exceptionally busy window for the club, with a major overhaul needed for an ageing team. I suspect we won't see activity on this level moving forward. In future there will be a greater emphasis on quality rather than quantity, with one-two premium signings becoming the norm.

Sanchez would be the icing on the cake, of course, and could be the difference in the title race. Another centre half is needed too, although the possible signing of Jonny Evans has polarised fans.

The prospective £30m fee seems excessive given his age, although he ticks certain other boxes (home grown, left sided, comfortable on the ball and so on). With Leicester and Arsenal also interested this could go to the wire, although I suspect many Blues wouldn't be too disappointed if a deal didn't materialise, and Eliaquim Mangala was given another opportunity.

PSG doubled our wage offer for Alves, it had fuck all to do with Txiki.

Some of the flapping on here is shameful. Ducker and Cross are bullshitters in arms who only 48 hours ago were adamant we wanted rid of Raheem Sterling.

Nobody has "pissed about" with anyone. How the fuck this forum thinks that one of the best run clubs in the world is one of the worst run clubs in the world is utterly beyond me.

Just because Txiki doesn't have the courtesy to whatsapp you when he goes for a shit doesn't mean that he's not gone to the bog.

What will be will be. I too find it odd we have left it so late to go for what would arguably be our biggest signing for some time. Seems a risky strategy. Personally I'm not sure why we piss around on the money front as we waste money like no other. At least with him you are virtually guaranteeing a return. I think our glaring weakness is at DM. Relying on a clearly declining Fernandinho, ageing yaya and injury prone Gundogan is risky for me in a very important position.

Even bloody Ducker thinks there's plenty of twists left in this thing. Decent chance Arsenal wilt - pretty obvious Alexis doesn't want to be there and we've had all the dressing room crisis posts. Decent chance we up our bid - we might even have a bunch more money to play if we can shift Bony and the Mangler at the prices reported.

Everyone needs to chill. 5 and a half hours still to go.
