City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Seems that City are always in the position of having to defend their innocence.

Financially I like to think we have structured our income by wisely getting investment from many sectors and away from near AD neighbours. It now seems that UEFA very quickly defend any suggestion that we are suspected of potentially offending FFP so I wonder why this is ?
The media have effectively been told to get their stories right by footballs rule makers which must be a first, at least as far as helping City is concerned.

Given the letters were from 2 weeks ago, I assume the media had found out and UEFA got bored of answering every halfwit asking them. Easier to make a statement and have done with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if City got on the blower to UEFA to ask them to clarify their stance on this as soon as possible. We're clearly comfortably on the right side of FFP these days, regardless of clueless idiots claiming otherwise, and UEFA appear to be very happy that we've been behaving like good boys since the 2014 breach. I can kind of accept opposition fans coming out with this shite but journalists? Worse still, the fucking La Liga chief? It's no better than me asking UEFA to ban United from the Champions League because I don't like them ffs!

Looks like we opened the year with £7.8 cash balance and saw outgoings of about £20m leaving a net deficit of very approx £11m. Perhaps short term borrowing at banks as a result of general trading.
That would broadly match up with the £1m paid in overdraft and loan interest for the financial year.

To paraphrase the late Harry Worth:

"My name is Arsene Wenger. I don't know why, but there it is".
Let's not forget the delicious irony that Arsenal were one of the main drivers and signatories of that letter in Jan 2013 urging the PL to apply the FFP rules strictly and ensure clubs like ours could only spend what they earn. As a result, the PL introduced its own cost control measures that limited wage increases. A small amount was allowed year-on-year but any extra had to be funded via an increase in:
  • Commercial Income
  • UEFA Prize money
  • Matchday revenue
  • Profit on sale of players
Arsenal wanted to offer contracts to Sanchez, Ox & Ozil but couldn't afford to do that under the PL FFP rules as they'll be losing a load of UEFA income and won't be doing so well on matchday income. So they offloaded Ox but neither of the other two players look to be in a hurry to sign new contracts anyway. And now Whinger is moaning about FFP and how, if he's known the impact, he might have thought differently about it.

Tough titty Arsene.

At any time there is net debt or net worth due to cash flow. Nothing to see here.

This definitely seems like Bartomeu is frightened by the possibility of Messi leaving next summer, with City a very possible destination of that happens. No one to blame but himself and the board so naturally he blames the clubs interested in their players.
