New Kompany Calf Injury?

Just to defend Pep.....he made the point many times in press conferences that we needed a centre back for this very reason and some reports suggested he asked for VVD.

There are lots of versions as to what happened after this point and we all have our theories but Pep did not overlook this position and I would wager he isn't too happy this wasn't addressed barring a farsical situation on the last day where we were left with the choice of either Mangala or Evans.

Why is it defeatist to be concerned when he is injured when we are so much better with him playing? who do you is at fault for not buying a CB who can lead and make the others better to rotate with vinny?
I'll wait until after the game tomorrow to judge wherever we're shite without him. I don't think anybody is at fault for anything. If the right CB wasn't available to us then I see no point in getting somebody in just for the sake of it. Like I said in my post, our back four is already much improved with the signings we did make.

Of course our fullbacks are much better now,how you can say we are not better with vinny baffles me,if we did a poll it would be nearly 100% yes with the americans making up 1% no

Who said we aren't better with Vinny? Saying I'll wait until after the game to see how we get on without him isn't the same as saying we aren't better with him.

You are talking this game whilst i was talking generally speaking, crosswires
Aquero says to tell you a shovel deals with the cats ;)

I would say the missed chances were more the problem than the defence last year.

Completely agree. The amount of chances missed (just from what I've seen from games and not statistics) was staggering. I would scream that they shouldn't try to walk it in like Arsenal in the past. Reading people's comments here is always a laugh. Some think the club didn't try to sign a CB. Some blame Kompany, the club, etc. Personally, I think the club try their best to rectify any issues they have, and if they can't do it in one go, they wait for another opportunity. They may be trying to move away from the 'throw huge amounts at any and everything' image and use that 'big money' considering today's market more sensibly. Only thing one can do now is adapt to the situation. I'd play Danilo at DM. He has the pace and height to help out the CB if needed. Let Stones and Otamendi do the best they can. Support the team. Expect the worst and hope for the best. Come on City!

What's your point??

I'd say the consensus amongst city fans is we are over stacked in attack and limited in defence. You've missed the point completely, having options allows you to eradicate those stats!
My point is that we didn't concede many more last season than you'd expect but Guardiola's lament about being more clinical is absolutely true. We might be 'overstacked' in attack but the goals for column doesn't suggest we are very good at converting. Sort that and the defence will largely take care of itself.

He is not done, the difference he makes to us when he plays is evident, when it comes to Belgium he is irresponsible,he can't play every game and ours as well,i am being selfish but he should put our needs above that of his country,it's the clubs and manager/s fault we have not made sure we have proper cover, too late again,i'm staggered we don't get it done, football is a balance between attack and defence but we are top heavy in attack and have been for the last 3 yrs

I agree with your post. However, eventhough the team is top heavy the amount of chances missed especially last season was staggering. Considering everyone's gloom and doom about the defence, it was still 3rd/4th best (not sure which) in the league. Yes, this saw the team come 3rd, however, factors such as the keeper issues, missing skipper, and very old full backs have to be considered as well. They may have tried to land someone but I think the club will only spend big money now on someone who can certainly do the job. They may be trying to move away from the 'throwing money at any and everything image' which saw the club buy players like Mangala, Rodwell, etc, for the money they did at the time. What do I know any way? I'm just a guy who loves football and doesn't bother with all the drama and yapping. Adapt to the situation I say. Maybe play Danilo at DM. He has the pace and height to help protect Stones and Otamendi so they can get on with it. Come on City!

You are right about the chances we missed,it was incredible and we had no luck either,in those games we just have to be tight at the back as 1 goal can lose or draw the game, now we have eddie i feel much more secure,i will tear my hair out if he starts juliet in a league game lol

You can tell improve what you don't have.... if pep is to prove his worth he'll coach the striker/attackers to up there game. I had this same debate last season, can't recall the stat but the actual goals conceded that impacted Pts were ridiculous. I also stated that the stat you're alluding to would improve as a great deal was due to transition and improvement in Jesus, sane et al...

Put it this way, did we mess up not signing another CB?

Time for Vincent to decide between City and Belgium.

Unfortunately because of his age and his on-going injuries, he can't do both.

If he wants to extend his career and continue playing for a City, he has to retire from international football.

Do you honestly believe he's going to forfeit his chance of playing his final World Cup?
There's just no way he'll do that, not with their current squad and not when he genuinely believes in Belgium's chances.
He's likely to retire after the tournament though, as he has stated, but there's no way he's going to drop out now.

Not exactly sure about that Americans comment, but I agree with you. Even with Vinnie out I think on paper our good attack is better than their middling defense more so than their good attack is better than our middling defense.

I was thinking dax as he is not impressed with vinny,no offence meant to you

God help us if Stones or Otamendi pick up an injury or suspension tomorrow. No way Vinny is just missing one game.

We don't want you losing you hair so I'll cross my fingers and toes.

Jesus christ just heard this news....it seems that the hopeful run of games we were wanting from Vinny have again been shot down in flames if this is true. I just hope that the fact we didnt bring in a CB in the window doesnt come to curse us this season

Why the feck was he playing against Gibraltar anyway ?
